Him n’ Her

New York State of Mind

I talked to Chris earlier this evening. He’s in NYC at the moment, on a biz trip. He called me on his cell as he was walking from his sister’s apartment to his mother’s. It was midnight NY time. I have to say – NYC is very noisy even at midnight. I made some comment about the fact that I didn’t like that he was out walking around the city at midnight. He says, “Baby – if you look like a New Yorker, no one is going to bother you.” Then went into a litany of things that distinguishes someone […]

Orchids

Orchids are probably the single most beautiful flower I’ve ever witnessed. Something about them is so pure, fragile and delicate. They are also the most difficult thing to grow. I’m a glutton for punishment, apparently. Up until last year – I would never dream of bringing orchids into this house with the intention to grow them. Pictures of them, yes. Fake ones – – most assuredly. But real ones? In a pot? Alive? The poor things wouldn’t stand a chance. Well…I rethought that way of thinking last year when I brought home the most gorgeous orchid. Pure white with a […]

Birthday Stuf

It was a good 21st, again. Actually – I turned 36 today. I’m not one to obsess over birthdays – never have been. Aging is normal. I’m also never one to fret about things I have absolutely no control over — and I have no control over the aging thing, whatsoever. So, I never really understood the whole birthday depression, thing. I’ve seen friends go through it once they hit 30…or 40. Why bother stressing over it? It’s a fact of life – nothing you can do but let it happen. In my opinion, it’s what you fill those years […]

Fear of Flying

Chris is coming home from his biz trip tonight. Flying in from Atlanta. I know I have blogged in the past about how much I truly hate it when he flies. It makes me sick to my stomach – and seeing as how I’m still fighting this flu bug that big me in the ass – – HARD – – him flying just adds insult to injury. I always think the worst. I imagine all of the possibilities. Then after he lands . . we joke around about how neurotic I am. Ok – he jokes around about it. I […]

Yay!

Chris is flying back home today – – poor guy sounded so tired on the phone. He called when he landed in Cincinnati. His flight left OK at 6:30, he had to drive there from Arkansas – – so the poor boy has been up since about 2 am this morning. He says he didn’t take a later flight because he wanted to get home as soon as possible, in order to enjoy the weekend with me. Awww. 🙂 The kids are with their father this weekend – so it should be a relaxing weekend. After the last three weeks […]

G'nite, Love

For the one logging in from Arkansas this evening: I love you, I miss you and I crave you. You dare torture me with this extended absence! Blown kisses over phone lines . . . curling around the pillows that carry your lingering scent. I’m simply left with ponderances of the moments of your return…your sweet kisses, your tender embrace – – – holding onto the moments of your presence…so close – – these next weeks better go by quick, you rat bastard – I’m bored as hell without you here! Off to meet you in my dreams…. ONLY WHEN […]

Have a great weekend

We’re officially gone and out of touch for the weekend. Chris and I are headed to Cascade Mountain for a weekend of skiing and sitting around the fireplace naked, n’ stuff. Have a great weekend!

Ski Vacation Plans

Chris and I are in the process of planning our annual ski vacation. Last year we went to Lake Tahoe – – and while I would love to go again, he and his buddies have a ‘been-there-done-that’ kind of attitude about it, and are looking for something different this year. Here are our options so far, if any of you have had any experience with these places — I’d love to hear your feedback on them: Mammoth Mountain – California Breckenridge – Colorado Aspen – Colorado

Merry Christmas, my Love

Love Sonnet XI Pablo Neruda I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair. Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets. Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps. I hunger for your sleek laugh, your hands the color of a savage harvest, hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails, I want to eat your skin like a whole almond. I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body, the sovereign nose of your arrogant face, I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes, […]

Chris Travels

So, Chris is flying to Atlanta for business, again. He leaves on Tuesday and returns on Friday. I’m normally very okay with all his travels. Due to a very awesome contract he signed with WalMart — he’ll be travelling to Arkansas for two weeks in January to kick off that deal. Hey – at least he’ll be the one stuck in a place like Arkansas, and not me. What to do in Arkansas, I wonder? Anyways – I digress. Normally, I don’t have issues. However, this week – I’m having issues. Of course I’ll miss him and all that — […]
