About Me.

During business hours, I am the Chief Operating Officer and partner at WebDevStudios, a full service website development and design agency.

I am also the author of WordPress For Dummies, and several other books in the For Dummies™ series around web design, development and WordPress. I've enjoyed a fulfilling career in the WordPress industry for the past 15-years.

Outside of business hours, I am a casual baker, gardener, Alice in Wonderland fan, and a not-so-casual Green Bay Packers football fan.

WordPress For Dummies - Lisa Sabin-Wilson

Author.

Since 2006, I have been writing books on the WordPress platform for the For Dummies™ series from Wiley Publishing.  My books are distributed world-wide in multiple languages - that is mostly due to the overwhelming popularity of the WordPress platform, which currently powers 30/% of all websites you view on the web today!

The Latest Editions

Lisa is one of my favorite authors to work with. She was finishing up the first edition of WordPress For Dummies when I joined Wiley. 8 editions and 3 additional books later, Lisa has really turned an idea into a successful line of titles for our brand. I can't wait to tackle new projects and new editions of all of her books with her!

Amy Fanderi

Acquisitions Editor - John Wiley & Sons Publishing

Lisa is a visionary. Her contributions are felt in so many different facets of the business everyday. She controls everything WordPress and continually exceeds clients expectations. With the massive shift in the market towards WordPress, we are thrilled to have Lisa as our development leader. Go Pack!

Chris Pollara

CEO - Convertiv

Lisa is one of my favorite "For Dummies" authors. She wrote a book that I was personally in need of, and that filled a huge void in the marketplace. She's easy to work with, has great ideas, and is always willing to try something new. Plus, her book is great...what more could a marketer ask for!

Ellen Gerstein

Director of Marketing - John Wiley & Sons Publishing

Lisa Sabin-Wilson is an undisputed master of WordPress, her research is thorough and her writing style makes the knowledge she conveys very accessible.

The author does indeed do a good job of explaining what you need to know.

Web Design.

Design is really my passion, over anything else that fills the hours in my day. I'm a self-taught designer & frontend developer who turned dabbling into a 15-year long career! Below are some of my favorite works our team at WebDevStudios has done in the past several years.

Business.

I have been involved in several business ventures in my career. I founded a yoga studio and ran that for a couple of years. I founded a WordPress Design Agency back in 2003, when WordPress first started to become popular. I also ran a WordPress Theme company for a few years.

In 2012, when my WordPress Design Agency became so busy that I couldn't do it on my own any longer, I got in touch with a colleague, Brad Williams, who was running a WordPress Development Agency. I thought our two talents would really compliment one another: Design + Development.

That was 8 years ago, and today I am still a co-owner and Chief Operating Officer at WebDevStudios. I joined in 2012, and liked it so much I decided to stay!

Words I Live By.

But I'll tell you a secret ... all of the best people are."

Why Data Portability is Important

The Importance of Data Portability

Your data, your code, your progress belongs to you – you have worked too hard, and, in a lot of cases, paid too much money to allow a company to own your hard earned progress. Don’t get locked in by a company who does not have your best interests at heart.

COO, What is a COO, Chief Operating Officer, Operations, Digital Services

Operating in Operations

As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at WebDevStudios, I’m often asked about my role and how Operations get defined in a digital services company. Recently, I have engaged in conversations that made me realize that everyone has different perspectives on what defines Operations in a business, and even whether or not a company needs a COO as part of the C-Suite, executive team.

Pain Makes People Desperate

Pain desperation is a thing. Pain is an epidemic in this country, as much as opioids are. Chronic pain sufferers cannot get the pain relief they so desperately need. More and more, I ask the question: What’s worse? Addiction or pain. I don’t have the answers.
