Buck, the 2lb Bass

We’ve been doing quite a lot of fishing since the weather has warmed up so nice. I just love it – – and it’s so nice to take the boat out and sit in the middle of a quiet lake – hunting the ellusive large mouth bass. Actually, they aren’t quite so ellusive. I pull in quite a few of them, really – – most of them too small for dinner, though. On Sunday, we took my Dad fishing. When we got out to the lake and got ready to launch the boat – – the skies opened up and […]

Dad, again

So, Dad is back in the hospital again. 6 weeks after his major double bypass – – he was having chest pain. Mom took him to the ER where they did an EKG that they found questionable, so they decided to keep him overnight for observation. This morning, they did a cardiac stress test and found that one of his arteries had blockage and scheduled him for an immediate angioplasty. They finished up with that about 30 minutes ago and he’s doing fine. The cardiologist said that he should actually do much better now and that this won’t impede his […]

Here Fishy, fishy, fishy

So, we spent almost all of Memorial Day on the lake – – give or take a few hours that we had to go over to my brother’s house for a family BBQ. I’ve rediscovered my love for fishing! Odd, ain’t it? I spent my childhood days fishing the Mississippi with my Grandpa – – as well as on Timber Lake in Iowa with him, too. He’s the one who really taught me how to fish – – well, him and my dad. I forgot how much I loved it. Yesterday I hauled in my first large-mouth bass, ever. He […]

Boy Crazy

Ok. I need advice. This will be long (probably) – so hang with me on this if you’re good with teen aged-boy-crazy-love-struck-for-the-first-time advice. My daughter is 14 years old. She will be entering high school in September. She is cute as hell. I’m not just saying that because I’m her mother – – she is cute as hell. Cute face. Perfect hair. Perfect size 6 and a nice set of D-cups to go along with it. She’s got an excellent head on her shoulders, usually. Good grades. Talented musically and in sports. Usually – she’s a good kid. Enter teenage-hood. […]

Blogger Friend

A long-time blog friend, and client, of mine, Jim Cannon at Thinking Right has been battling health issues for quite some time. Today, we were notified by his dad, Guy Cannon, that Jim is on life support today, and fighting for his life. If you get a moment – please stop by Jim’s blog and leave him a note of encouragement. Also, drop by his father’s blog and leave your thoughts for his family. Jim and Guy are good people — my thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

Update on Dad II

They are keeping him in the hospital for another day or two, yet. He had a few episodes of Trigeminy, mixed in with some episodes of VTach. They gave him meds to deal with both issues, which helped – – but it bottomed-out his blood pressure as a result. They came very close to tranferring him back to the ICU yesterday because of the blood pressure issue – but things seemed to have settled down now. It’s funny how we are brought back to our humble beginnings – – all pretentions are lost when something like this happens. How do […]

Update on Dad

I call a friend of mine who is an MD at the WI Medical College. I wanted him to go in and just visit Dad – take a look at him, peruse through his chart and see if anything stuck out at him as concerning. They are saying that Dad’s recovery, at this point, is “text book” – meaning everything is going as expected. Normal. Within normal limits. Dad has forbidden me from going down to the hospital to visit him anymore. He says, “I know you have put off a lot of things in order to be down here […]

36 Hours Later . . .

First things first, Dad is ok. A big thank you to everyone who sent their well wishes – – I read them all and appreciate each and every single word. They sent him in for a cardiac cath. early Monday morning. They didn’t even finish it all before they rushed him in for emergency surgery. He had a double coronary artery bypass as they found that one of his arteries was 100% blocked, the other two were 90% blocked. Apparently, the surgeon told us that the one artery that is 100% blocked has been that way since birth. “That’s the […]

The Dreaded 2am call

Mom called about 30 minutes ago. Dad had a heart attack and was admitted to Froedert Hosp. in Milwaukee. I’m leaving now, even though she told me not to come down until I wake up in the morning. Like I could sleep. I never listened to my mother, anyways. I won’t be around today, if you’re looking for me. For hosting, if you submit a trouble ticket – we’ll find it a bit later in the day when Chris checks in. For design, please be patient. Thanks.

Survived!

The 6pm choir concert went until 6:50pm. It was a lovely little concert. They did a variety of show tunes and patriotic songs, believe it or not. And for a public school, they left in all the lyrics that deal with love of country, freedom, patriotism, god and the flag – – I was impressed. At 6:50pm – Missy (Melissa, dammit!) and I ran out to the parking lot – – hopped into the car and made it across town to the concert hall by 7:15. She was supposed to be there at 7pm for warm-up . . .but at […]
