Double Whammy

I have a double concert tonight. My daughters choir concert is at 6:00. Her Orchestra concert is at 7:00. The choir concert is at her school. The orchestra concert is in a concert hall all the way across town. Is it too much to ask these music directors to coordinate their schedules better???

Artist Extraordinaire

A few months ago – I had Leanne do a painting of my two cats. She did an incredible job on them and we now have them proudly hanging in our front hallway! We hired her services again to paint a portrait of Thor and Oz!. I cannot wait to see what she does with the boys! She already has a preliminary sketch done of them. I’m really eager to see the finished product. This time – it will be TONS of fun! Last time, when she did the cats, she shipped them up here in time for Christmas. THIS […]

Don't start none . . won't be none

We just returned from court, where my 15 year old son , who is now a common criminal, received his punishment for the Egg Incident. It was an interesting process, really. We show up at Juvenile Court at the assigned time. Problem is – 50 other kids with their parents show up for court at the same assigned time. We sign in – and then they start calling each kid and their parents up in front of the judge. We sit through about an hour of other juvenile court hearings before they get to us. The other offenses range in […]

Pleasant Surprise

In the past week – we’ve hired two techs for Blogs About Hosting, with more hiring to be done over the next few months. The growth has been crazy and I simply just cannot handle it anymore – all by myself. I don’t wanna be. All by myself. Anymore. I’m thrilled with the hires. It is such an incredible weight off my shoulders and a BIG relief. Maybe now I can reduce my 18-20 hour days down to about 16? Pfft – yea right. Anyways, in the discussions that Chris and I were having about hiring and how to structure […]

Coach Carter and My Date

We had a fabulous time, Melissa and I. We ate at Applebee’s and it wasn’t so bad – – well, except that the rice pilaf totally lacked any flavor whatsoever. But their dessert was good – I had the Apple Chimicheesecake – – I’d go back for that again, I think. It was yum. We shared conversation over dinner that you can only share with a 13 year old. Giggly girl talk. She is something else – – and it’s times like these when I have time alone with her and listen to her talk that I really am proud […]

Date Night!

Last week, my daughter came to me and said, “We need a mom/daughter night – wanna go out on a date?” How could I refuse? She got to pick the night and the activity. So we’re going to Applebee’s and then to see some movie with Samuel Jackson . . . I can’t remember the name of the film. Captain . . . something. It’s a basketball movie. I might like it. I’m not to fond of Applebee’s either. It’s like Denny’s with better lighting. But, hey – – a night with my kid . . and it was HER […]

She Raped My Ear!

I had the pleasure of talking with this chicka on the phone today. I’m happy to report that she doesn’t lisp, it doesn’t appear that she drools or spits when she speaks and I want to confirm that she can string more than three intelligent words together to form a sentence! It really was nice to talk to her . . after all this blogtime spent in comments and email. I just wanted to say that. And Fred . . . if your ears were burning . . .that’s ’cause we talked about ya. Nope. I’m not tellin’.

Dog and Butterfly

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. At least, not in my daughter’s case. If ever I had a Mini-Me – – she’s it. When I was young(er) – I made a living singing in a rock band. Yep – Little-Known-Fact #101. The band was called “Kidd Sister” – – it was me and 5 guys. We were nothing spectacular . . . but we had a ton of fun and made a good living for about 5 years…. Or until I had kids and decided I needed to make a BETTER living, rather than a FUN living. Adulthood […]

Homesick?

Have you ever gotten homesick? I can’t say that I ever have . . but then, I’m a pretty independant person. Always have been – even as a kid. My daughter was invited to spend the night at Grandma’s house tonight. Her cousin, Kiley, was also invited. They were all going to hang out and do girlie things all night long. At around 8pm – Kiley got homesick and called her mom because she wanted to go home. And she did. My daughter called me to tell me this. I asked her if she was homesick, too? She says, “Me? […]

Stuff.

Oh Ye lovers of movie downloads – particularly BitTorrent and eDonkey users : here is a tid-bit-o-useful information to tuck away in your brain for reference. You probably want to watch the Supreme Court rulings on this one. A note to Lori, who is humping for Xmas Cards – not that I got an Xmas card from you, but just to say that I’m a terrible Xmas Card sender. Rather, I call the people who are close to me with some holiday wishes. I haven’t sent out Xmas cards in well over a decade. I just don’t do it. I […]
