New York State of Mind

I talked to Chris earlier this evening. He’s in NYC at the moment, on a biz trip. He called me on his cell as he was walking from his sister’s apartment to his mother’s. It was midnight NY time. I have to say – NYC is very noisy even at midnight. I made some comment about the fact that I didn’t like that he was out walking around the city at midnight. He says, “Baby – if you look like a New Yorker, no one is going to bother you.” Then went into a litany of things that distinguishes someone […]

Blurfing the Blogroll

Well, since my conversion to WordPress – – it isn’t technically a ‘blogroll’ anymore…but you get my drift. There are blogs that are on my ‘daily’ read list – and then there are the others that I try to visit at least once a week. Tonight, as I wait for my laundry to finish – – I thought I’d blurf my entire blogroll list of links – this should be no small undertaking: Linda lists 10 bloggers she’d take with her to a desert island. Sarah has this weeks Thursday Threesome. Ben is having moral issues with the outlook of […]

Quack Quack

Yes, that’s right. I’m on call again for work. I love my work – I do. I enjoy what I do quite a lot. But I absolutely despise being on call. We currently have 85 patients. Those patients span 4 counties. The farthest patient away from my front door is about an hour drive. Those 85 patients are spread out about an hour each way – north, south, east and west. When we are on call – we are ONE nurse on call for all those patients spanning that entire territory. So, I just sit and wait for the pager […]

Tuesday Blurfings

Doing some guest postings over at Goldie’s while she takes some much needed vacation time — her and her ultra-chic jeans jacket! Have fun, Goldie – we’ll keep the homefires burnin’ for ya! Vinny’s got a new look. Who knew he was such an artsy-fartsy type of guy?? 😉 I agree, Chelle – sometimes you just gotta touch the monkey My all-time favorite radio talk show host went and got himself his own national show!. Go take a lookie – cuz he’s darling cute, too 😉 Time to clue Sandy in on the fact with a few tea bags – […]

Walkin' Girl

A few days ago – I decided that it would be much better to take my hour long walks outside than my usual walks on the treadmill. Afterall – it’s April and it’s spring time! Of course, this is Wisconsin – so it’s freezing damn cold outside – but no matter! I bundled up and headed out. Me and my daughter. She is 13. Weighs all of about 115lbs and considers herself fat. Those were the days, weren’t they? She decided she wanted to go walking with me – and we did a nice, healthy, brisk and COLD 2 miles […]

Sitting Duck Blurfings

Today – I’m on call. I hate being on call – but it’s one of those necessary evils of my job. I always feel like a sitting duck on the days I’m on call. My call lasts from 8:30 am today until 8:30 am tomorrow – – so I just sit around and wait for that pager to go off. Which means I can’t really do anything for that 24 hour period except anticipate the pager. Can’t start any projects, can’t really go shopping, can’t even take a nap…not really. Usually – it’s the minute that I start something that […]

Blurfing of an Insomniac

It is 4:16am and I can’t sleep. It amazes me to no end how guys can just totally be zonked out, snoring and drooling on the pillow almost 2 minutes after high intensity, hot, sweaty sex. I wish I could do that. I, on the other hand, am awake from the adrenaline rush – – fully relaxed, but still alert and awake. That’s always how it goes. I’m not complaining at all – – because, damn – it was fucking incredible. But here I sit with a tall glass of cold water, coming down off my rush. The room is […]

Sunday Blurfing

A full weekend on my own, and it’s hardly been the full weekend on my own that I had imagined. Between failed brain harvesting and my friend’s cancer…at least I got a decent hair color out of the weekend. Today I spent my hours housecleaning while blaring Metallica, Evenesence, Puddle of Mudd, and other musical favorites as loud as my system could handle. I’m surprised you didn’t hear it from wherever you are. Music is so cathartic – – especially really loud music with a fair amount of bass. Laundry is done, cleaning is done and I have a clean […]

Deb, I love you.

Chris is out of town for business. The kids are at their Dad’s for the weekend. I haven’t had a weekend like this in over a year. Just me and my shadow… I slept in after a very long night dealing with the brain harvest situation. No alarms going off. No one waking me up asking for stuff. Just lazy ol’ me. I spent the afternoon shopping for things I don’t need and then spent two hours at the salon getting a Malibu treatment and a coloring. Yes, I ditched the red and went back to my original blonde. Maybe […]

Sunday Afternoon Blurfing

And so continues my slugfest with some of my blurfings from the weekend – a big thanks to these bloggers for keeping entertained throughout my most pathetic slugfest this weekend. We are going to have to tie a bright red balloon to Vinny’s wrist if he keeps having so much success in his diet! If he turns sideways – we won’t be able to see him! Keep up the good work, Vin – – this girl is rooting for ya! Chelle has started a fantabulous gimmick on her site – but it’s Friday’s only. Freeware Friday – that is. She […]
