Be My Valentine

Since I’m laid up with this ankle injury and Chris and the kids have abandonded me for the ski hill (feel sorry for me yet?) – I figured I’d just hang out and blog for the day. I’m under orders not to put any weight whatsoever on this foot – do you know how hard that is? I’m not one to sit still, ya know (yet?). So, they set me up with my coffee maker right here in my office – a few snacks, so that I don’t have to get up and go anywhere while they are gone. (yet?) […]

Weekend doings & blurfings

Again with the on call! I haven’t done this much on call in awhile — and I’m trying to figure out how I got roped into doing it so much this month. I think I wasn’t paying attention to the schedule and what people around me were doing, because so far, I’ve been on call 4 times this week The saving grace to that is — I’m not on call again for 3 weeks and all of this oncall pay goes onto one paycheck. So I may be bitching now – – but on Thursday, I’ll laugh my way to […]

Saturday Blurfing

Too much work and no play makes Lisa feel sorry for herself. Hence, the break in work last night to go skiing – – which, might I add once again, I did awesome. Not only did I do awesome – – but I owned that damn hill! Ok, enough about me. I’m sitting back with a hot cuppa and decided to do some surfing and bluring…so here we go: Surfing I’m a Taurus and part of my horoscope this week from Free Will Astrology states, “I’ve always believed that the most useful critiques often come from people who deeply appreciate […]

Today's Blurfing

I’m zonkered today. I slept like shit last night and then got absolutely killed at work with the usual post-weekend clean-up. Would SOMEONE please feel sorry for me? Ok- anyways . . . so I sat back with a hot cuppa java and did some surfing and blurfing (regular surfing v. blog surfing). Surfing Bet’cha didn’t know I was a fan, did ya? Oh yea, baby! Up from Zero, a DVD documentary about the brave men and women of the New York City building trades who put themselves on the line on September 11, 2001 – and for nine months […]

Proud Mom

Just had to share. I attended my daughter’s Christmas Concert Holiday Concert that her Orchestra gave last night. She plays the violin – – – the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree there! Here’s some pics of her on stage, with her goofy Santa hat on! *beam*

I am Jack's random blurf

I’m a chick and I loved the movie “Fight Club”. There, I said it. Call me odd. (“ok – you’re odd!”) There are some great quotes from that movie: It’s only after you’ve lost everything, that you’re free to do anything This is your life, and it’s ending one minute at a time Regarding collagen injections: We were selling rich women their own fat asses back to them The things you own, end up owning you We are definined by our choices I was always interested in the films that scar And so on, and so forth. I’m boring you […]

Blurfing

Went blurfing today. Blurfing? What’s that, you say? Blog surfing – – yea, yea – I made it up. Kinda cute-ish, ain’t it? Sometimes I’m so cute I even amaze myself. It doesn’t happen very often – so bear with me while I participate in a little self love here, k? (and NO – I won’t be sharing self-love pics either…naughty!) Anyways . . . . I found a few blogs that caught my eye and thought I’d share, cuz they are worth mentioning – – at least for my purposes, they are : Wizbang! is lots of fun – […]

Blog It Forward

Chelle taught me about Blog It Forward Day. A relatively new ‘thing’ for me – as I had never heard of such a thing before. Until “Blog It Forward”, I used to refer to it as “Shameless Link Whoring”. Semantics, semantics. The idea here – from what I gather, is to pick a few blogs off your blogroll and give ’em the exposure and linkage they deserve. So here I go – – popping my “BIFD” (Blog It Foward Day) cherry : Pinky has a great new looking blog over there in the UK. She certainly does not need my […]

Layla, R.I.P.

Around here – – we’re staying with the story that the baby died of SIDS. But, with you – my blogging friends . . . I’ll make the confession and hope it stays within these walls. The real story is . . . . . it’s batteries ran out. So much for an effective program. Good intentions and all – – but it doesn’t work if they send a baby home with 1/4 of the battery power. Pfft!

Baby, think it over

At the age of 35, our local school district is responsible for making me a grandmother, my 60 year old mother a great-grandmother, which makes my 12 year old daughter a mother. For the weekend, only. Her name is Layla. My daughter is going through some Family Living program called “Baby, think it over” – geared towards teaching teenagers about parenthood and toward the prevention of teenage pregnancy by showing the kids that parenthood isn’t as cool as it may seem. Does it seem cool? I can’t imagine that it does. Anyways . . . . . My daughter comes […]
