That’s Life

Resolution Matters

Over the weekend I had to reshoot all of the artwork for the book because, for several reasons I just won’t go into (who needs book authoring drama?), my artwork was rejected by the art department. I cannot begin to tell you how demoralizing that is for a designer! Heh. At any rate, the publishing company gives you a very strict set of requirements about how your monitor and system needs to be set before you even THINK to begin shooting figures for print. Since Friday, my screen resolution has been set to 1024×768. I finished shooting the last of […]

Piled High…. and Deep

I had weekend plans. Truly, I did. Those plans were squashed with just a few phone calls through out my day today. Without going into any hairy details – I’ve entered into the final, final — did I say final, editing process of WordPress For Dummies. It’s been a long road – – the book and I have been through a lot together. I guess this is my opportunity to say my final goodbyes… soon to send it off into the big bad world to fend for itself. The best I can do is prepare it for a successful future! […]

The Police Were Hot on Her Tail

My lovely daughter, Melissa, is a sweet girl. She is bright, funny, charming and very, very social. She rarely gives us much trouble – – but, she’s also 16. The age of 16 doesn’t come and go without a handful of little disruptions in life – – it’s like a turning point when, suddenly, the very sweet girl who used to want to spend all her time in her Mom’s lap all of a sudden doesn’t want to be SEEN with that same Mom in public. Oh the horror! Actually, Melissa isn’t so much like that. While she doesn’t sit […]

Delayed in Cleveland

We finally got home around 2 AM last night! Oy – I hate, hate, hate airport delays – and it seems to happen more and more these days! We left Hartford, CT at 5:30PM (EST) and arrived in Cleveland at 6:30. We were supposed to depart at 7:30PM EST and land here in Milwaukee at 7:30PM CST – but it was not to be. We were delayed.. not because of weather or anything, but because the Atlanta airport had delays and flight groundings… and the ripple effect backed everything up and we didn’t end up flying out of Cleveland until […]

8 Things You Don't Know About Me

My good friend, Chelle tagged me with this meme, who was tagged first by Kate – who was. . . well, yea – you get the picture. For this one, I need to come up with 8 things you do not know about me – and since I’ve been blogging here on this same domain for the past 5, that might be difficult.. but I’ll try and see if I can come up with something you don’t know – or cant’ find already posted in my archives. I met my husband, Chris, via the internet in January 2001. He lived […]

I stepped in cat puke and lived to blog about it

You just know it’s time to call it a day when you walk up the stairs into the kitchen to make coffee and on your way back down to the office, you step in a big SPLAT of cat puke that that nasty feline laid on the tile floor, just after you passed through. Not only do you step in it.. but you slip and slide and land on your ass right ON TOP of said cat puke splat…spilling your beloved espresso all over the walls. Sweet dreams, everyone – tomorrow is another day.

I ran into an old friend today

Well, I didn’t really run into her – I found her through an internet search on Google. I wasn’t searching for her, but I found her because she is a freelance editor/writer on the topic that I was searching for. It was interesting because I found her articles and started reading them. They were really good and very well written. I felt drawn to the author through her writing and the sharing of her own experiences. When I viewed the author byline, it listed her name – which I did not recognize (she got married and changed her last name), […]

Survived!

Well, I survived possibly the worst cold/flu in history. At least in MY history. It’s still not completely over, but at least I’m functioning. I spent the entire holiday weekend in bed alternating Nyquil with Advil and probably went through 3 packages of completely useless cough drops in the process. I’ve completely lost my voice, much to the pleasure of the rest of my family. I’ve had to put off several client calls and a radio interview (sorry, Dave!) because of the lack of sound coming from my mouth. The voice is finally coming back today – won’t my family […]

Getting to Know You

“Face Behind the Blogger” collection was started by Dave Airey because blogging is truly international, and the chances of meeting the people behind your favorite blogs are slim, a face to the name of someone you haven’t met helps recognition and adds a more personal feel to your conversations. Stevie (revenge) tagged me with it about a week ago – I figured it was time to pony up the goods over here. It took me a while to find some older pictures of myself – – ones that were not scanned, I simply laid out on the table and took […]

Random thoughts for the day . . .

Sometimes taking off in the middle of a work day to visit the garden center to buy a few pretty blooms is necessary. 85 degrees is way too hot for a day in early May – especially when I plan to do work outside. Especially when a well meaning friend reminds you to wear sunscreen, and you don’t. Thinking you know better – you head out to get the planting done and end up with a sunburn and a friend who knew better. Having one or two really close friends who know and understand you, completely 100% through and through, […]
