That’s Life

Looking Backwards..just for a second

My son is starting a program at the local Technical College on Monday to get a jump start on completion of his high school diploma, so that he can finish high school a year early. I don’t know about you – – but I know I wasn’t that motivated to enter adulthood at that age. But he’s a different sort of individual, really – he just kind of blazes his own trail. Always has, even as a tot. In some ways, I’m very proud of that piece of him. In other ways, it has given me more migraine headaches than […]

Workday Conversations

Via Yahoo IM today between my husband and I: Lisa: Did you see that help ticket from –Client Name– ? Chris: Yes, and? Lisa: I will love you FOREVER if you handle this one.. I’m swamped today. *kisskiss* Chris: And if I don’t – you’ll only love me until when? Lisa: Well, forever – – but even longer than that if you handle this one for me! In the meantime, I submitted my first chapter to my editor at the end of last week and I should be hearing some feedback by the end of this week. I haven’t felt […]

Important Things Learned in 2006

Now that it’s officially 2007 and I have settled into the new year after short vacation, reflecting on the past year is nary something I have time for, at the moment – but it is important to reflect on the past in order to apply experiences and lessons learned in the future. Important things I learned and came to terms with in 2006: 1. It’s impossible to make everyone happy every single time, no matter how hard you try. This includes family, friends, clients, coworkers and strangers on the street. Just try and be the best at what you do […]

After 2AM

Last night, I didn’t sleep at all. Last night.. meaning Sunday to Monday. I was up until 6:30am Monday morning before I actually called it a ‘night’ on Sunday… does that make sense? It does to me. I was up all night collating, sorting, punching and binding training documents that Chris needed for his business meeting in Chicago at 9am. Why? Because he didn’t start writing the training documents until about 2pm on Sunday and finished printing them out around 4am. I spent 2.5 hours in the wee hours of the morning playing secretary to the man I love. Now […]

Stupidity on the Net

So, we sent a DMCA notice to some folks who run bloghostings.com yesterday. This is how stupid some people really are – – they see something they like on the ‘net, decide they want it, completely rip it and put it up on their own site, yet they don’t bother changing the links in the content they’ve blatantly copied. Someone clicks the link – – ends up on my site. My referral stats show the incoming link – I go look and find that these yahoos have completely ripped our hosting site word for word. Boys and Girls – if […]

Grooooove, Baby

I gots me some groove. Thanks Jeanette, but I didn’t even need Barry White for this… but thanks for playin’ *k* I was up at the crack of dawn this morning… 5am. And no, it’s not because I didn’t sleep and stayed up that late… this wasn’t one of my insomniac rages. I actually woke up because of a bad dream that I just cannot talk about – – it was just that disturbing to me. Uck. Up at 5am. Showered by 5:20. Coffee by 5:30. Launched two blogs and got two creative mock ups out to two clients by […]

Day Spa

There is this Day Spa right down the road from our house. I drive past it all the time – but have never given it a second thought, until a few weeks ago. I’ve been having this horrid neck and shoulder pain that has gotten so bad it’s affecting my sleep.. my moods.. yada yada. To the point where my family was begging me to finally do something about it because I guess I’ve been a little cranky. Go figure – Me .. cranky. Who knew? Anyways – I made an appt. at the spa for a 1 hour full […]

Shame on us

We like to keep aquariums in our home. We have a lovely 70 gallon one in our kitchen. To me, it’s relaxing to sit down with my coffee and just watch the fish in the aquarium. We keep assorted types: Angels Mollies Eels Tetras We like to keep crabs, too – – those are pretty entertaining. Recently, we added Puffer Fish to the tank. They are SO cute and fun to watch, as well. It turns out? Puffer fish are the predatory sort. And – they eat shellfish like snails, shrimp… and crabs. Shortly after placing the Puffers in our […]

On the road without a cell phone

I was talking with Chelle this morning. She was sharing her new cell phone number with me. We chatted a bit about life before cell phones – – having to use those things called Pay Phones when we were away from home. Remember pay phones? Heh. It reminded me of a job I had once. My title was “Nurse Liaison” – I worked for a hospital that specialized in post-op orthopedic rehabilitation. My job? We took referrals from the major hospitals of patients who needed post-op rehab. I took the referrals then drove to the various hospitals to meet with […]
