That’s Life

I almost ran over an angel

Sometimes there are situations in life that you want to avoid… but not really. What you really want is to be able to move beyond and past the way that situation makes you feel, deep inside. You really want to experience the thing for what is today.. not for what it was yesterday. But.. it sometimes makes you feel and remember yesterday – even though today is completely different. So.. you sometimes avoid it – trying to avoid yesterday .. yet, in the meantime, you’re losing your chances for reshaping it for this day..and tomorrow – all the while apologizing […]

Spam on my doorstep

We’ve lived in this house for 3.5 years and have YET to see a door-to-door salesman. Heck, we don’t even get kids here for Trick-Or-Treat – – we’re too far off the beaten path for the kids to hike all the way out here for a piece of candy. No salesmen, No kids. Never even a politician. We live too far out and our driveway is a mile long – I suppose they all figure we’re not worth the hassle of the hike. Today, however, I was greeted at my doorstep by two salesmen claiming to be from AT&T. Is […]

Sad Poker Face

I’m not really betting woman, normally – but I do like a good game of poker or blackjack. I’m pretty decent at both games and usually don’t regret any game I’ve ever sat in on. My gambling moments were usually kept for those visits to Vegas, or Atlantic City – – or even the Indian gaming casinos here in Wisconsin. I can drive down the highway for about 30 minutes and find a casino.. walk in and sit myself down to a game of poker or blackjack anytime that I want. Not that I ever find the time to do […]

Raising Children

It’s strange, you know – kids. Parenting is not one of those types of jobs where you can just wake up in the morning and say “You know what? I quit!” Well, there are some parents (and I use that term loosely, in this reference) who have done just that sort of thing. But – it’s never occurred to me to just up and quit. It’s a life choice, you know? Even if having kids was not something you really planned on doing at the time – – when you make the choice to have them… you make a lifetime […]

Serious Serial Series Syndrome

Go ahead – say THAT title 10 times fast – – then go ahead and untie your tongue while you’re at it! Serious Serial Series Syndrome™ – I have it. I never, ever have time to get into a television series while it’s still running. Really – how do people keep up with it? To plunk my butt down in front of the television every Thursday at 7pm is way too much of a committment for me, and I do have committment issues, you know. Don’t let my newlywed status confuse you – – I’m a true phobe. But – […]

Who says blogs aren't useful?

Blogs ARE useful! If I didn’t know this before – I know it now. How do I know this? Back in April of this year – I did this post about my engagement ring irritating the skin underneath it. It was really very bothersome to me and for the longest time (even after we got married) I couldn’t wear it. Well, I could wear it for a few days – until the blister and rash started showing up again – then I’d have to take it off for a week or two until it healed. I could then wear it […]

mtv on the brain

Talking about taking work to bed with you! Over the past few weeks – I’ve been working pretty hot n’ heavy on this site owned by a guy who is a producer for a show on MTV2 called Subterranean. His site is all about music, music reviews, artists, record labels, etc, etc. The project has been super involved and we’re quickly nearing the end of the project. I’ve talked to Dave so much on the phone this week – he almost feels like part of the family, ya know? Like I should invite him over for turkey on Thanksgiving. I […]

9 days gone

9 days since my last post here – you’d think I was on another honeymoon, eh? I wish. I DREAM of those beautiful, serene days in the sun and surf on Bonaire! Nah, the past two weeks have been over the top hectic with work. My worries back in June about what a 2 month hiatus would do to business have proven to be unfounded. I’m more busy now than I ever was – – my head buried in code and design. When it’s not buried there, it’s buried in the support center for our hosting clients. When not buried […]

Back to school

Quote of the day? “freshmen are the most annoying…. things. i swear they get more and more cocky every year” This bit of wisdom is brought to you by a teenage girl who is 2 whole days into her sophmore year of high school. Heh. I’ve been under the weather. Down and out. Sick and tired (literally sick and tired). I’m behind on email. I apologize. Tonight is my mass-emailing night to get myself caught up. In the meantime – have a look at my new photoblog – – well, it’s not new, really. I’ve had it since June 2005. […]

My name is Lisa, I stockpile.

I was talking to a friend of mine recently.. just sharing, updating each other on life, yada yada. I made a comment about this thing I do in my house.. have been doing for quite some time, actually, and have gotten into the habit of doing that I don’t even think about it anymore. My friends says, “You know, after knowing you all these years – I never would have guess you’re a paranoid conspiracy theorist! Learn something new about people every day, I guess!” Hmm.. paranoid? Conspiracy theorist? Me? Seriously, the though never occurred to me. Now, I do […]
