More Updates

Mom was hospitalized late last night with a blood pressure of 210/220. They hospitalized her in hopes of getting her blood pressure under control so they can schedule surgery on Monday morning. Needless to say, I’ll be at the hospital for the remainder of the weekend.

Mom Update

I went over that night to see her – and her foot. I’m still very angry at the doctor in this case for putting this off as he did. She had first gone in and brought it to his attention on 1/3, asking him 3 questions: 1. Is this Gout? (her grandmother had gout and died of renal failure) 2. Is this related to my Diabetes? 3. Is this a reaction to the spinal cortisone injection I got in early December (for arthritis) He said no to all of the above and sent her home with Tylenol 3 for the […]

Peripheral Artery Disease

That’s a hefty title, hey? Yea. We just found out that is my mother’s official diagnosis. She’s been having problems with her feet over the last month, or so. Lots of fluid retention, discoloration…pain. I’m a little irked with the Doc she has been seeing about this problem. It could be just me – – with a patient who has diabetes and is a heavy smoker with high blood pressure and that patient tells me that her toes are purple, her foot is so swollen that she can’t put her shoe on and she’s having pain that keeps her from […]

Another WordPress Upgrade

Seriously, am I going to have to put this on my regular monthly calendar: “Run newest upgrade of WordPress”. Ok ok, it’s free software – the development community has been hard at work debugging the latest 2.0 release and it’s still a really awesome content managment system. That said, I hope this is the last upgrade until the next big version release – – you know, the one that will do my laundry, wash my dishes and pick up my mail. I upgraded to to WordPress 2.0.1 on this blog. This release has addressed 114 bugs that existed in the […]

Infalliable Machine

That’s all I want. A machine that is indestructible. Parts that never go bad. Functions at 110% at all times, no matter what type of abuse we throw at it. One of our servers that serve up many of our client sites had itself a little breakdown this week. We noticed some real strange behavior on Thursday evening. We ran our usual batch of checks on all the software, which all checked out perfectly. No wayward scripts, no badly formed code, no specific site with high volumes of traffic using up the majority of the processes, no DDOS attempts, nothing […]

Earned Income

Clicking around the blogosphere I’m reading a lot of this type of thing… …we filed our taxes today …I’m doing taxes today . . . …send in the taxes today… eek! Am I the only one who waits until April 15th? Must stop reading blogs during tax season. If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street,…If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat…If you get too cold I’ll tax the heat,…If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet…..Don’t ask me what I want it for…If you don’t want to pay some more….’cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m […]

WordPress 2.0 Bug: Movable Type Comments Import

I’ve run an number of MT to WordPress imports over the past few weeks. Almost all of them, I was importing MT into WordPress version 2.0. And there is a bug in the process. Posts an authors imported just fine. Comments and trackbacks on the other hand? They do import – but you won’t see them. Within your WP admin panel – you won’t see them in the Manage –> Comments area, nor will you see them in the moderation queue. However, if you look in the database – they are, indeed there. The comments do get imported – however […]

Gorgeous Chicken

Gorgeous Chicken night! I can’t remember where I came across this recipe – – and I can’t, for the life of me, remember it’s name. It’s something like “Really Good Chicken” or “Damn Good Chicken” or some such thing – – anyways, I just renamed it “Gorgeous Chicken” .. cuz it sounds good. It’s REALLY easy to! Preheat oven to 400. I use an 8lb chicken. (because I have a teenage son, so you can take away an automatic 2lbs right there!) My rule of thumb for baking chicken? 20 minutes per pound – then add another 20 minutes. but […]

Shop till ya drop!

Today, I was supposed to be shopping with Leanne. But because Chris was gone out of town all week – – he didn’t get a chance to go shopping at all – – and since this is the last weekend before Christmas, he needed me to go shopping with him this weekend. I guess Leanne and I will have to get together for those after-holiday sales.. that is, if she forgives me for ditching her this weekend so I could help Chris with his shopping instead? It’s the after shopping activities that I’m looking foward to!! We’re filling up our […]
