RE: Blogs – 11

1. Have you ever blogged something you’ve regretted in the morning? Do you leave it? Delete it? Pray that no one reads it? Delete is my friend. There are a few things in my lifetime that I regret – – blogging is th eonly place that I’m able to delete my regrets into oblivion! I can think of about 2 things that I’ve regretted and have deleted – – not too bad, really. Don’t you wish you could do the same with some of life’s little regrets?? 2. Last week, RE: Blogs asked about the location from which you blog. […]

Blech!!

I just have to reaffirm that WordPress ROCKS, man! I’m in the middle of doing some custom work for a new client who has a TypePad (SixApart’s hosted, paid version of Movable Type) blog. I have a ‘dummy’ TypePad account, because I’ve had quite a few TypePad customers, actually – and it’s worth it for me to have the account to play around in when designing new, custom skins for my Type Pad clients. I can’t take it!!!!! It is sooooooooooooooo slow!! All those templates are enough to make a person scream…..loudly!! I’m over working in TypePad and my fingers […]

RE: Blogs – 10

1. Have you ever reached the point where you just want to stop blogging – but don’t? What are the reasons and feelings that bring you to those feelings? Blog Boredom? Blog Frustration? Blog Over-Dose? I’ve reached that point – – but I quit blogging when I did. I’ve been keeping this blog since October 2002 and took a break somewhere between February 2003 and April 2003. Not much of a break, really – it was about a month and a half…but sometimes a break is needed. What brought me to the need to break from the blog? Boredom. That’s […]

A Poll

1. Where were you when you heard that Ronald Reagan died? I was at home watching the news when it was announced. I was expecting it that day because earlier news reports indicated that Reagan wasn’t doing well and had taken a turn for the worse. They said, at that time, that his death was not imminent – however, maybe it’s my hospice background and working with Alzheimer’s patients in their last hours…they way they described his condition, I just was expecting it to happen that day. 2. Where were you on September 11, 2001? On the highway, in my […]

RE: Blogs – 7

1. Why do you read other blogs? Is it voyeurism? Curiosity? Are you just being nosy? All of the above, of course! Seriouslly, I read for many reasons. Some blogs I read for humor and entertainment. Some I read for current events and information. There are some blogs I read for recipes. Some of the blogs that I link are good friends of mine — it’s a nice way of keeping up to date on what is going on with what is going on in their lives. I can be talking to a friend of mine on the phone for […]

Pay-Per-Word

Too funny. Jess has an update on Movable Types new licensing structure. Kind of reminds me back in the day when I used AOL back when they charged something like $2.95/hour and didn’t have any local access numbers in my area. My AOL bills combined with my long distance bills grew into the hundreds. Hmm…how much would it impede your blogging if you were paying per word? I can tell you that this post would look something like this: Ha! ha!

Remembering MT – R.I.P.

Although I am having a love affair with WordPress, I still provide MT coded templates over at my template site. Hey – there may be a mass exodus from MT happening, at the moment – – but there are still enough users, for now, that there’s still a demand for them. This morning, I built a template for a new client. I built it for use with MT. I haven’t worked in MT since I converted over to WordPress (and never will again, except for clients) – and I just have to say that the experience of working in MT […]

WordPRess 1.2 Redux

Just upgraded to WordPress version 1.2 – the final release is finally out! Thanks guys! In the process of tweaking — not that there is a whole lot of tweaking to do. The upgrade took one click of a button – – not much more than that. It’s pretty awesome. On a totally side note – – completely unrelated – – my daughter is talking to me about kids at school. “They are gay” she says. I said, “Are they really gay…I mean, really?” She says, “Well they aren’t gay as in happy gay….and they aren’t gay is in gay […]

RE: Blogs – 6

1. Blog confession time: Is there a topic that you shy away from on purpose on your blog? What is that topic, and why? Sex. I generally don’t blog about my sex life. Although, sometimes I will if it’s particularly interesting, or funny – but as a general rule, I don’t. My sex life is pretty kinky – you guys would have a way different view of me if I blogged about our sex life over here! 😉 2. Define your blog to the world – in six words. Just a girl and her blog. 3. Repeat question from RE: […]

WordPress 1.2

On another domain I own – where I do all my testing and make all my mistakes before publishing a finished product, I installed the latest beta version of WordPress 1.2. I have to say – I’m impressed and keeping a close eye on the WordPress forums for bugs and for word when the final release is out. It has a very nice UI. Some of the highlights: Allows you to install a plugin – you generally just need to put the plugin file into your wp-content/plugins directory. Once a plugin is installed, you may activate it or deactivate it […]
