I’ve caught the dreaded cold. Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve been sick like this? I don’t get sick like this. Oh, I’ll catch a little cold here and there, nothing earth shattering – – but THIS cold is a whopper!
I’m home from work today – sicker than a dog.
I have so much work to do, not for my day job, but for my design/web business. I’m swamped! Which is actually a very, very good thing! The more swamped I am – – the closer I am to taking that step toward total self-employment. Anyways, I’m swamped. My intentions last night were to sit down all night long and work on the projects that I have open at the moment. I was actually intending on closing two of the projects I had open. I was on a roll.
Then, at 7:30 p.m. – I decided to take a small break. Sit down, have coffee with Chris and relax. I laid my head on his shoulder, at one point, and the next thing I knew – I was waking up at 8 a.m. this morning.
Wow. 12 hours of sleep. I called in sick for work today.
Of course, I went to my email this morning with two emails, one from each client, saying “Ummm, any ideas on when we can expect completion?”
Oops.
I finished up those projects this morning and fired them off, begging for forgiveness and explaining my current stuffy nose, coughing, sore throat syndrome. Happily, they emailed back complete understanding — and actually gave me three new referrals for business and I’m off and running again.
There was a story I was going to blog about today – maybe I will a little bit later. It was sparked by a conversation I had with a Social Worker that I work with at the day job . . . we were reminiscing about one of our most difficult cases that we worked on together last summer. The man died the night before I left for my skiing trip to Tahoe – – it was the weirdest death call I’d ever made, from the minute I broke his arm . . . to the end of the call when I was double checking to be sure he was actually dead. I’ll have to remind myself to blog it later.
I don’t think you’re going to get off that easy, girl.
“…broke his arm…”?!
Oh, and sorry you are sick.
Feel better soon!
And we were just discussing my crappy cold and you said you wanted one so you could stay home – – well you got one. I hope you feel better very soon 🙂
Finally I found the author of Word Press for Dummies.
Love your books btw:)
