While at SXSW 2010 in Austin, TX – the folks from Wiley Publishing caught up with me and did a short video interview for Amazon.com on my books, WordPress For Dummies and BuddyPress For Dummies.
While at SXSW 2010 in Austin, I spent some time with Cory Miller of WebDesign.Com and iThemes.com, who interviewed me about WordPress, my books and design work.
This is my 5th trip down to Austin Texas for the annual South By Southwest Interactive Festival. I always have a fantastic time during my visits to SXSW – – I get the chance to rub noses with some favorite geeks across the internet, from all points on the globe and do a little promotion of my various books and projects that I have going on at the time.
Like most Packer fans, the pending retirement of our beloved number 4 was something we’d rather not talk about, at the time. We knew it was coming – but it was the 500 lb gorilla in the room that everyone was ignoring. That is, until 2008 when the Packers web site announced Brett Favre’s retirement from football.
In 2010, I have the same gripe I have now, as I did in 2008 – – – aside from a few bucks out of my pocket every two years, there are no educational requirements should I decide to re-enter the nursing field. In Wisconsin, mandatory continuing education as a condition of licensure exists for the majority of health care professionals except for nursing. Can you imagine? I haven’t practiced since 2004. That’s 6 years now. In the ever-changing field of medicine, I can’t even begin to imagine what I’ve missed and how much I don’t know.
My ears lost their innocence in 1990. I used to be a person who was just happy listening to music on whatever medium was available – – the car radio, my home stereo system, the loudspeakers at the mall – it didn’t really matter to me. Although, I am a musician – and a classically trained one at that – my ear was never really very picky when it came to consuming music for my entertainment.
