WordPress 2.0 – Upgraded
I successfully upgraded this blog to WordPress 2.0 overnight – – it went smoothly without any glitches (at least none that I’m noticing at 4:30 am). Overall, I like it. It seems a bit slower than before – though, that could just be my server slowing down during peak server-wide back up time. We’ll give it more of a chance than that. WordPress 2.0
The newest release of WordPress is coming out any day now – version 2.0 – – minor and major overhauls to actually jump it from Version 1.5 to 2.0. Before upgrading: The Codex has a listing WordPress plugins that work and plugins that don’t work with version 2.0 – check it out before you upgrade your blog. It is, by no means, an exhaustive listing. Deactivate the plugins that don’t work before you upgrade (that goes without saying, eh?) BACK UP YOUR DATABASE! We have seen this on quite a few of client blogs, those of them who have not upgraded to WordPress 1.5 or higher. From the WordPress Dev. A new upgrade for WordPress – version 1.5.1 was released yesterday. You can find it and download it here, at the WordPress development blog. Their documentation team put together a change log, so you can read about the changes in this new version. Loooong Week
It’s Friday and I couldn’t be happier!! Chris has been gone all week on business in Atlanta – so I’ve had no one keeping tabs on me around here. He’s always good for making sure I do things like eat, sleep, drink…. basic life stuff. Sleeping has been at a minimum around here lately – – as has eating . . . drinking is another story. I think Matt was reading my mind . .or my blog: Comment spam is a problem that hits many blog systems, but fortunately on WordPress there are some very robust ways to deal with this scourge. We’re building some important protections into 1.3 but in the meantime you should take action to protect yourself. Comment Spam
I get comment spam. It never makes it ‘live’ on my blog, however. Not once do those weaselly little blog comment spammers get their link up on my site . . . not for on millisecond – – they don’t get the exposure they’re looking for here. They don’t get the cache with the search engine bots . . . not once, never. I have to ask – why do they persist? Why don’t they just move on to a blog that doesn’t have such tight spam controls?
