Is it Monday already?
Actually, it is. I just looked at my clock and it’s officially 1:30am here. Why am I still up? Why am I ever . . . just because I don’t blog about insomnia, doesn’t mean its still not kicking my ass six ways ’till Sunday. I’ve pretty much resigned myself with the understanding that I shall sleep when I am dead. Really, why fight it anymore – it’s exhausting….and yet, not exhausting ENOUGH! Heh. It does leave me wondering what life would be like if I had a normal sleep pattern. Would it be different? Would I see the world […]
Its been a really good week
I’m rounding the bend.. hurtling towards my second deadline, which is due March 1. It will be a solid few days of writing between now and then until I have to start working on my third deadline (March 31.) Someone here told me that this book thing was a GOOD idea — who was it?? *leering* I blame the callouses on my fingertips on you – I hope you feel guilty! Overall, its been a good week. My friend Leanne has had a BANNER week – and I know mine does not compare… but still a good one in the […]
Feedback required – yea, that means you!
As you can probably guess – I’ve been spending large portions of my days writing like a fiend and working to meet the deadlines for the WordPress for Dummies book. I shall have 25% of the book completed in about another two weeks – of course, that is before my editors get their hands on it and whip out their red pens and send it back to me… but, at least, until then – I will have the satisfaction of at least feeling like it’s done and accomplished. I’ll just put the pending red pen edits out of my mind […]
WordPress for Dummies
I am happy and utterly excited to announce that I am writing the official WordPress For Dummies book for Wiley Publishing! At first, my feelings were mixed. On one hand, I’m thrilled to be able to write about a topic that I both enjoy, and am very passionate about. In addition, it does feel rather good to be recognized, on such a level, for the work I have done with WordPress. On the other hand – – I’m saying to myself – “What on earth have I gotten myself into???” Can I really do this? I’ve never written a book before. Me? An author?
Coffee Break at 9PM
Let’s see.. my day consisted of: Setting up one completed custom WordPress installation and design for a client whose host has some kinda funky PHP settings that took about 3 hours to finally resolve and get the WordPress installation working correctly. (Psst . . for LunarPages folks, if you suffer from the ‘500 Internal Server’ affliction after running a clean install of WordPress and can’t make a post to your site without being locked out completely – chmod folders to 755, chmod PHP files to 644 and then put this in your .htaccess file: SecFilterEngine Off SecFilterScanPOST Off Restoring another […]
Goodbye Purple
Change is good. I’m getting tired looking at my purple template I currently have up here. Anyone who has been around my blog long enough knows that I almost always revert back to shades of blue. Purple has been nice. It kept me calm throughout my wedding jitters. It’s been a good color for the past few months. But, as always, I miss my blue. I’m about to re-arrange things around here and I’m not sure how it will go. I’ve tested and re-tested this redesign of mine, but it does require some big changes in the back-end code and […]
Who says blogs aren't useful?
Blogs ARE useful! If I didn’t know this before – I know it now. How do I know this? Back in April of this year – I did this post about my engagement ring irritating the skin underneath it. It was really very bothersome to me and for the longest time (even after we got married) I couldn’t wear it. Well, I could wear it for a few days – until the blister and rash started showing up again – then I’d have to take it off for a week or two until it healed. I could then wear it […]
WordPress 2.0.2 Released
Once again, WordPress released another upgrade – version 2.0.2, that promises several bug fixes, as well security fixes from the previous version: An important security issue has been brought to the attention of the WordPress team and we have worked diligently to bring you a new stable release that addresses it. Our latest version 2.0.2 contains several bugfixes and security fixes. On brief glance at the site, I’m not seeing a link to the change log – but see these issues addressed via the Trac. In addition, WordPress states “The problems addressed are unannounced XSS issues privately discovered and reported […]
