Want to go to WordCamp NYC?? It's on me!

WordCampNYC – Nov 14-15With WordCamp NYC coming up next weekend – I’m catching that whole WordCamp spirit again.  I have to say that I truly enjoy attending WordCamp and wish more WP users would attend, if they could.  It’s really a great deal of fun just meeting, talking and sharing with other people within the user community – the benefits are undeniable…talk to anyone who has attended any WordCamp, anywhere – they’ll all say the same.  It’s an experience not to be missed, if you can.

So I’m headed to bed for the night after working on my presentation for WordCamp NYC and thought I would put my money where my mouth is about attending WordCamp – – I would simply like to sponsor 10 attendees who would not otherwise have gone.  That’s right – I’ll pay your ticket price to get you in the door.. all you have to do is get there.  Game?

Pay attention – here are the rules:

  1. I’m going to sleep right now – I’m exhausted.
  2. Retweet this post
  3. I’ll wake up in the morning
  4. I’ll have my coffee first (this is an absolute requirement – I will NOT be bending this rule…not even a little, so don’t ask!)
  5. Pick 10 random retweeters (who are NOT already registered – feel free to retweet and spread the news for those of you already registered) and send them an email to arrange their WordCamp NYC ticket
  6. If I don’t have 10 takers by morning – I’ll keep this going all week until I have 10 people interested and registered.

Why am I doing this?  Just because I’m sometimes random… sometimes spontaneous and sometimes get caught up in the excitement and spirit of things like WordCamp that I just want to share the fun and experience.  Really – that’s it!

Can I get a re-tweet??

    1. Heh – at least you’re not asking me to bend my coffee rule 😛

No plane tickets or hotel rooms, sorry! 🙂 But, if you know someone who wants to go but didn’t want to pay the ticket price? I’m on it .. let me know 😀

  2. I would love to have gone and good on you for helping some other folk make the trip! As I’m way the heck over in New Zealand I won’t be able to make this one though… we had a great WordCamp of our own just a couple months ago here in NZ though.

Have a great time, I’ll certainly be checking out the video’s from WCNYC when they hit WordPress.tv… oh, and if you like pink you’ll LOVE my blog… went pink for October 2008 and haven’t looked back since! 😉

    1. Haha – of course he will! I did mention I was exhausted when I wrote this, right? I didn’t even connect the dots..or URLs..or whatever :p

  3. Hello Lisa,
I am so glad that you have come up with a noble idea like this. I badly wanted to attend this WordCamp and I am from India. I have never been to a WordCamp before and I dont think anything of this caliber is happening in our country. I am happy that I came to know about your blog through this event. I am a first timer here and I liked it to the core and going forward I will be a frequent visitor. Thanks for being modest and generous. I am glad to support this by all means I can.

  4. Mmmmm…..have had my coffee — I <3 coffee so much 🙂

Going through the lists of retweeters – sending out emails, DMs… this is fun 🙂

  5. Hi Lisa,

Thanks again for sponsoring me at WordCampNYC 2009! The event was amazing: a great place for learning and networking. Thanks also for signing your book, which is now part of my awesome autographed book collection!

    Best,

    Phil

  6. Hi Lisa,

I like your wordpress for dummies book. I am just starting to use it to see if I can change my websites, http://www.glennishere.com and http://www.glennisgreen.com over to a wordpress site. I have a blog using wordpress.org software, http://www.glennishere.com/blog. Can I work on the static pages, while leaving the blog up and running and not interfering with it? Can I work on the static pages without having them published, until they are finished?

  7. hey, hows it going? long, long time since posting a comment… my how you have grown….very proffesional looking now :-)I remember you considering quiting the regular job for all this, proud of you that you have made it work 🙂
