If They Don’t Play This Song At My Funeral – I’m Not Going

I find the song so beautiful in its simplicity. It's delicate, like a breeze or butterfly wings. Written in a minor key, it feels immediately like it wants to be sad, but it's not sad. It's hopeful and optimistic and, for me, reminiscent of things that are good in this world.

Not being argumentative

I’m on call tonight – yay for me. Hopefully it will be a nice and quiet night – – of course, I should not have said that out loud – now I am doomed. Someone posted this to an e-mail discussion group that I read regularly – if for no other reason other than it gives me one more thing to read during my day. As if I don’t have enough?: “Xxxxx, you have got to accept something – for your own well-being. God does not have a hand in earthquakes, flood, famine, disease. Basically He has nothing to do […]

Ego Stroking

Wednesday. Middle of the week. Almost done. Hey if it brings me one more day closer to my vacation in Lake Tahoe – I’m all for it! That woman from the other Hospice agency is calling me again. She is very persistent. I had an interview scheduled with her just after the New Year – which I cancelled after giving it much thought. I called her and told her I wasn’t interested in making a change in my life right now and didn’t want to waste her time with the interview, knowing that I wasn’t really interested in moving from […]

More on the topic

Atheism: The Case Against God That’s a good read. . shared that book with me this past summer. Actually, when I was out at his place in California and was packing for the plane trip back home – I mentioned that I didn’t have anything to read on the 5 hour flight. So he gave me free reign to his bookshelf and said I could pick out a book to read. This book caught my eye – the title of it. Sounded very interesting and I have to say that I wasn’t at all disappointed. It was a great read […]

Raving Atheist

I just love this site – – I read it daily and will blogroll it forever into infinity. I’m doing a blatant cut & paste from that site – only because I absolutely LOVE this post. from his site – I think it’s fabulous. Not that I don’t have anything better to say – – he just says it better than I ever could. First, there is no God. In fact, all definitions of the word ‘God’ are either self-contradictory, incoherent, meaningless or refuted by empirical, scientific evidence. Although the nature of the disproof will necessarily vary with the god […]

Hey, my space has changed!

Only 2 weeks and 3 days until I’m with him again – yay 🙂 I fly out to LA Saturday, Jan. 31st and then he and I fly out to Reno on the 2nd of February. We’re spending the week in Lake Tahoe and Reno – – doing some skiing, gambling . . and whatever else comes to our minds. *eyebrow wiggle* I fly back home on February 9th in the evening. I really don’t like flying much. It’s not really a 9-11 thing, because I didn’t like flying before all that happened. . . now I just don’t really […]

Tell me all your thoughts on god

My son is just the most curious little beast. He thinks outside the box – he has been that way since he was a little tot. Too smart for his own good. Normally I wouldn’t say that because I think saying “Too smart for his own good” is an odd saying . . . I mean, how can anyone be ‘too smart’? But with B. – the reason I say it is because his little brain moves faster than he can keep up with. It’s like he processes ideas and concepts before he understands them – so that leaves him, […]

California or bust

That’s me. Standing out on the curb with the sign in my hand . . . “California or Bust” He’s off to the west coast again. I suppose this should get easier each time, shouldn’t it? We’ve been at this for almost two years now – – seeing each other just about every 4-6 weeks. Either he’s leaving or I’m leaving – – – usually it’s him, I’ve only been out there once. They aren’t tearful goodbyes. Probably because they aren’t goodbyes at all – – they are just “See ya later’s”. He has never ever left me without me […]

In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods. On a Sears hairdryer: Do not use while sleeping. ( and that’s the only time I have to work on my hair.) On a bag of Fritos: ..You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside. (the shoplifter special?) On a bar of Dial soap: “Directions: Use like regular soap.” (and that would be how??…) On some Swanson frozen dinners: “Serving suggestion: Defrost.” (but, it’s “just” a suggestion.) On Tesco’s Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): “Do […]

Happy! Happy!

Happy New Year to you, Happy New Year to you, Happy New Year to youuuu, Happy New Year to you. Isn’t this the time we are supposed to ponder over the past year and marvel at how much we’ve grown n’ stuff? Bah. I’m happy to simply state that this past year has been pretty damn wonderful. As a matter of fact, I’d have to say that this past year was one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. Not alot of chaos, no heartache and I’ve created an easier life for myself. All in all, I […]

The Apprentice

I sat down with a cup of coffee today and realized that C. flys back home exactly a week from today. Where does the time go, I wonder? It’s been pretty wonderful having him around – as always…things are just different when he’s here. I’ve discussed this already in my blog, I hate to sound gushy and repetative . . . however, the realization of his departure date always puts me into a little funk every time. My only saving grace this time is that on January 31st – I hop a flight out to California to be with him […]
