Running Errands

lsw-x

I love elderly folks – I really do. My favorite is seeing an elderly couple holding hands… or smooching.. or otherwise showing public displays of affection. It gives me warm fuzzies and makes me go ‘Awwww.’ I don’t think older folks get the respect they deserve, quite honestly. Too often, they are forgotten, pushed aside and otherwise disrespected – – even though these are the people who have ‘been there, done that’ and have probably forgotten more things that we, the younger generation, have yet to learn.

That being said – – please remind me to NEVER go grocery shopping in the middle of the day, ok? Normally, I go between 7-9pm at night.. when all of these wise, wonderful old people are tucking themselves into bed and aren’t moving negative 4 miles per hour in the grocery aisles. I love ’em, I really do — but today, let’s just say that I spent more time in the grocery store than I wanted to… or that I usually do. My bad. Late evenings next time – – remind me.

So I got home.. put the groceries away… made a cup of coffee and then sat down at the computer to call Chris. Since he’s in London this week and I don’t want the expense of international phone calls, we’ve been chatting either on Skype or Yahoo. A few months back, I bought this nify headset/microphone thing that has amazing sound quality for internet phoning.

So I connect it and put the headset on and click the “Call” button to call Chris. As I’m waiting for him to answer the phone.. I take a sip of my coffee and the damn mouthpiece dips into my full cup of coffee.

Total. Blonde. Moment.

Think it will dry out and be useful someday? Arrgh.

  1. I am SO glad I’m not the only one! Ha!
    Although, the fact that I DID it… and you almost did it – makes me the bigger loser here. 8-}

  2. I’m happy to report that it survived.

    And seriously, Joelle – shame on you for leaving your link here and letting a girl get all hopeful n’ shit. Winter 2006?? Oh reallllly? :p

  3. Hey Mark – thanks for the tip! I can’t stand phones that I have to hold onto, though!

    Knowing me and my blonde moments – I’d probably drop it in the toilet, or something =))

  4. I was JUST venting to a friend about this the other day. Being sick and having to take a day off from work is bad enough, but then having to run to the grocery store mid-sickness for some medicine, and being stuck behind geriatrics that move like molasses, is horrible!

    I swear. . . between the hours of 10am-3pm, it’s the grocery Tupperware parties for old folks. You thnk the supermarket is bad? Don’t even THINK about heading to Wal-Mart 8-|

  5. Sorry you’re sick, but awwwww, those people are doing the best they can. Don’t be too hard on them, you’ll be there one of these days too. 🙂
