Well, I signed up to work the “Get Out The Vote” phone banks for a few hours tomorrow. So if you’re in Wisconsin and you get a call that goes like this:
“Hello – my name is Lisa and I’m calling on behalf of the Republican Party of Washington County”
Then you ask – – “Is this Just A Girl?” And we can talk. ๐
Hey, I gotta do something to calm my ragged nerves ๐
Well I want to do something for my party as well, but I am so annoyed by all the phone calls I’ve gotten, that I don’t want to do that. I wonder if there’s anything else I can do? I’ll just email a bunch of people?
Rock the vote, baby!
We sent our ballots in this morning. I feel good about the amount of research we did this year; we were more informed this go-round than in any previous election. (And, yes, W got our votes for president. Whatever issues I have with Bush, I just couldn’t bring myself to darken the circle next to Kerry’s name.)

Hey cool! I’m doing the same thing tomorrow here in good ole Arizona! I have not decided if I’ll work the phones or do the door to door thing yet. Guess I’ll decide when I get there.
What an inspiration!
There are people that complain. Then there are people who identify problems, seek solutions, and put their time and effort on the line to create those changes.
Bravo Lisa!
Hey Lisa, what happened to your fear of flying post?
shannon – I haven’t minded the phone calls I’ve recieved at all. The response I get from the people I call is tremendously interesting. People out there want to talk about these things – the conversations are fun!
Zero Boss – good for you for getting out there. I’ve spoken to quite a few people who caste their vote, nervously, for Bush. I’m not so nervous though! ๐
Keeping my fingers crossed!
Lori – good for you!! I’m not a door-to-door kinda person . . which is why I chose the phone banks instead ๐
Awwww, thanks Christine! ๐
Cao – it’s right here – in the July 04 archives ๐
I’m in Texas, Bush is up by 21%. Almost no campaigning going on here. No phone calls, no letters, no nuthin’. Kerry never had a chance here.
you can phone me if you like, it’s almost as much fun a messing with the Jehovahs…
Hey Lisa,
Did you hear Bret Favre is doing recorded messages in WI in support of W? Check out NRO’s Kerry spot ๐
RedFred – too bad you don’t live here – – now THAT would be fun ๐
Zee – I read about that. That is so cool ๐
Shilling, the pitcher from Boston, is stumping with Bush this A.M. ๐
How are things looking in WI, Lisa? Latest poll shows W up by I think 8. What vibes are you getting?
I’m so danged anxious and nervous about all this!
too cold for my old bones, having found the sun (Previously just some mythical fairy tale) I am lothed to leave it.Besides sounds like too many rabid republicans in your neck of the woods.
If I don’t watch the polls – I get a fabulous feeling about Wisconsin, Zee.
Nary a Kerry/Edwards sign / bumper sticker / poster to be found around the areas I travel (and for home hospice nursing – I travel around these parts a lot!)
In my areas of Wisconsin – – the countryside is an ocean of Bush/Cheney ’04’ support. But then, I live in South eastern Wisconsin – – which is a completely different picture than western Wisconsin (i.e. Madision. Eau Claire, LaCross . . college towns)
I think he’s going to take Wisconsin. Gore only took it by a mere 6000 votes — and those were probably the UW Madison and Marquette students that they found out, after the fact, voted 5, 6, 7 times each.
Quite the contrary, RedFred – – our state has been a victory state for the Democrats for years and years. Hell, we just elected a Dem for a governor after Tommy Thompson went to Washington to become SHHS.
Bush will take it this year, though – – I have a feeling ๐
Awww… Gore won because the students voted multiple times sounds a bit like the whining that you claimed wouldn’t by heard from the Bush camp… Lisa, i’m disapointed with you.
… well, Fred – it was either the students or it was all those homeless folks in Milwaukee who were given ciggs by the Dems in exchange for a Gore vote
I rarely whine, Fred – you should know that by now ๐
Lisa, I think it’s the pre-recorded ones that I’m tiring of. I don’t mind the live person calls, except for the fact that I’m getting more and more calls, all from the same source, “Hi, I’m calling on behalf of President Bush…”15 times in the past 3 days! Enough already. I live in Oregon. We all have mail in ballots. I’ve already voted for you Mr. Bush. Please stop calling.
Switch to Vonage, I have had no calls….
I’ll be rooting for WI, Lisa. Unless voters live in CA, TX, and NY most states are still up for grabs – anything can happen!
Fingers crossed, praying, etc … stocked up on wine .. I’m ready for tomorrow – but just barely! LOL
