Music/Books

I Shot the Sheriff . . .

. . . but I did not shoot the deputy. Amazing the songs that come back into my life with my new XM Radio here in my office. Update Ok . . I had to turn the channel when I started grooving to “Knowing You, Knowing Me” ~ ABBA.

Maroon 5

I’m in love with this song. Something about it . . the music . . the guys voice . . the tune. Thought I’d share. (windows media player required). Beauty queen of only eighteen She had some trouble with herself He was always there to help her She always belonged to someone else I drove for miles and miles And wound up at your door I?ve had you so many times but somehow I want more I don?t mind spending everyday Out on your corner in the pouring rain Look for the girl with the broken smile Ask her if […]

Who Moved My Cheese?

For reasons to be explained later, I’m buying this book based on a suggestion from Kimberly. From the flap: Change can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your perspective. The message of Who Moved My Cheese? is that all can come to see it as a blessing, if they understand the nature of cheese and the role it plays in their lives. Who Moved My Cheese? is a parable that takes place in a maze. Four beings live in that maze: Sniff and Scurry are mice–nonanalytical and nonjudgmental, they just want cheese and are willing to do whatever […]

Timeline

Just finished reading a book from Michael Crichton called “Timeline” – it was a good one. But then, which Crichton book isn’t, really? From the sleeve: In an Arizona desert a man wanders in a daze, speaking words that make no sense. Within 24 hours he is dead, his body switftly cremated by his only known associates. Halfway around the world archaeologists make a shocking discovery at a medieval site. Suddenly they are swept off to the headquarters of a secretive multinational corporation that has developed an astounding technology. Now this group is about to get a chance not to […]

Chair Boogie

Wanna join me in a little chair boogie? Low Rider from War – – This is my current jam that’s wiggling my booty today!

Hello

Hello – Evanescence/Fallen Ever have one of those songs that you just can’t stop playing? Usually, I’m not quite somber as this song suggests — but this lady’s voice . . . man! It hits my core. Goosebumps, and all. Thought I’d share.

We be jammin'

I added my LaunchCast radio station over in the sidebar – – you can click to listen to my custom station, if you like the same music as me, that is 🙂 Right now, Metallica is playing – – but it’s a selection of their “St. Anger” album . . . so that’s not so hot. Gotta thank Chelle for keeping my sanity this morning. She’s knows why and how, too – – thanks, girl! Between Metallica and Chelle… OH! and my coffee – – I’m good to go 🙂

Angels & Demons

A while back, I finally finished the book, The DaVinci Code – and enjoyed it immensely. I finally, recently, got my hands on Angels and Demons – by the same author and am about a chapter into it. I really enjoyed DaVinci, a lot – – I’m thinking this one is going to be the same type of get-no-sleep-until-the-last-page-has-been-read type of books. DaVinci kept me up way late into the night and I didn’t sleep, I swear, for almost three days. Had it not been for the interruption of the phone and work stuff – – I’d have had it […]

Phew!

Finished the book – – life can return back to normal now. That is until Chelle lends me her copy of ‘Angels & Demons’. 🙂

DaVinci

I’m in the process of reading ‘The DaVinci Code’ by Dan Brown. I can’t put it down. Between long shifts at work…tons of web work – – I can’t put this book down for a minute, in between all of that. I love the premise of the book and enjoy the way the author interweaves fact with fiction in a way that weaves a real thriller of a mystery. A decade and a half ago – I would have had a real issue with this book, considering my catholic roots and beliefs in chrisitanity. Today, however – I find it […]
