About Me.

During business hours, I am the Chief Operating Officer and partner at WebDevStudios, a full service website development and design agency.

I am also the author of WordPress For Dummies, and several other books in the For Dummies™ series around web design, development and WordPress. I’ve enjoyed a fulfilling career in the WordPress industry for the past 15-years.

Outside of business hours, I am a casual baker, gardener, Alice in Wonderland fan, and a not-so-casual Green Bay Packers football fan.

Since 2006, I have been writing books on the WordPress platform for the For Dummies™ series from Wiley Publishing. My books are distributed world-wide in multiple languages – that is mostly due to the overwhelming popularity of the WordPress platform, which currently powers 40/% of all websites you view on the web today!

Business.

I have been involved in several business ventures in my career. I founded a yoga studio and ran that for a couple of years. I founded a WordPress Design Agency back in 2003, when WordPress first started to become popular. I also ran a WordPress Theme company for a few years.

In 2012, when my WordPress Design Agency became so busy that I couldn’t do it on my own any longer, I got in touch with a colleague, Brad Williams, who was running a WordPress Development Agency. I thought our two talents would really compliment one another: Design + Development.

That was 8 years ago, and today I am still a co-owner and Chief Operating Officer at WebDevStudios. I joined in 2012, and liked it so much I decided to stay!

Deadlines Don’t Care

I have been writing books since 2006 – that’s a LONG time! The thing I’ve learned about book deadlines is that deadlines don’t care about your life. They don’t care about when you have the flu, or when you have 100 other things piling up in your To Do list, or even when you just flat out don’t feel like writing. Deadlines are unforgiving.

If They Don’t Play This Song At My Funeral – I’m Not Going

I find the song so beautiful in its simplicity. It’s delicate, like a breeze or butterfly wings. Written in a minor key, it feels immediately like it wants to be sad, but it’s not sad. It’s hopeful and optimistic and, for me, reminiscent of things that are good in this world.
