Stats

I realize I’m the only person in the world who gives a rip…but…. I finally figured out how to format my WordPress Stats page. …..and there was much rejoicing.

The On-Call Blues

It must be my Adult ADD – at least that’s what I’m blaming it on. Either that, or I’m just flat-out insane. Believe what you want — the rumors aren’t true! Today, I was (still am) on call for work. Being the only on-call nurse for Hospice when there are 80 patients that span 4 different counties is no small task, let me just say. I know, I know – – you’ve all heard me whine incessantly about this before. You must say to yourself, “Lisa…then why do it?” Well, I only have to do call about 4-6 times a […]

Tweaking XP

Here is an excellent guide to follow for tweaking your Home or Pro version of XP. I was directed to that link this morning, by Chelle who, by the way, doesn’t have a blog anymore and I’m going through some serious wildheartwithdrawl. Bitch.

Install went well

My recent re-formatting of my system hard drive and the brand, spanking new installation of WindowsXP Professional went extremely well. It’s a different animal – in a familiar sort of way. First thing I had to do was set all the display properties to “Classic Windows” – – I just couldn’t take the Fischer Price display of WinXP. It made me feel like I was sitting on the floor, drooling, playing with Leggos. I couldn’t take it — so I changed it. Whew – comfort. So far, my machine flies through projects and programs that it didn’t fly through before. […]

Back up, Baby

Currently, in the process of backing my entire system up (arrgghh!) I’m reformatting and installing a fresh new OS – Windows XP Pro. I recently backed up and installed it on my lap top and it rocks my world. 🙂

Trackback – Solved!

Since my install of WordPress – I loved the functionality of it…all except for one, small thing. Not so small, really – from my perspective. It was big enough that I was actually thinking of going back to MT (gasp!) because of the level of my frustration with it. The issue was with the ability to receive trackback pings from other blogs. If you’ve attempted to send me a trackback over the past few weeks – you may have noticed that it didn’t work. You may have thought that it was an issue with YOUR blog 0r YOUR server, huh? […]

FireFox

I made the switch. I’ve been going back and forth for about a month over it – and I finally made the switch over to exclusive use of Mozilla’s FireFox browser. I started having funky issues with IE – – nothing major. For example, over on my other blog, I have some of the entries have 85+ comments in them. The individual entry page for those loads really really slow – – in addition, when you go to type your comments in on that page – the text renders excruciatingly slow! I tried everything I could try to think of […]

Web Widget

Tired of spam bots harvesting your email address off your website/blog as they harvest the information they find in the “mailto:” tags? Try this javascript – – it’s clickable and displays your email address – however, it’s embedded in a javascript which keeps it safe from prying bots. (to download the text file — Right Click and choose “Save Target As” – – save it to your hard drive and open it in NotePad, or whatever text reader you have.) Follow the instructions to replace your email information within the script – then cut and paste it into the spot […]

Web Widget

The second entry in, what I hope to be, a regular weekly addition. That all depends on how good I can be at remembering to do this weekly – – – most often, I’m good . . . but there are days, you know. Anyways – my Web Widget for this week is a find that I made on the net a year or so ago, and I absolutely love it. I use it a lot in my design business: What The Font? Basically, the idea here is that you have a graphic – – or you find a graphic […]

Web Widget #1

The new year brings a new category here. Since 3/4 of my time on the web is spent absorbed in graphic and web design for other sites – I thought it might be fun to link a helpful resource every now and then . . . so I bring you: Web Widgets. My Web Widget for this week is Cascading Style Sheets. All my sites are purely CSS driven. Generally, you won’t find a table in sight – unless there is some specific positioning thingies I want to do over on the side menue. For example, my tag board is […]
