I’m blogging early . . or late, depending on how you look at it. It’s 6:30 am and I’ve yet to sleep. So, is it early…or is it late? I report – you decide. I had a nice time at BlogHER. Chicago is always fun to visit – if it’s possible to be in love with a city (and it IS), Chicago would be my second love. Seattle is my first (sorry Chicago!). I love the design of the city, the architecture..the lake. I just like big cities, overall — there’s such a nice feeling of being just a number, […]
My favorite part of this song occurs at the very beginning where she whispers….Don’t look at me… Christina Aguilera – Beautiful It’s worth noting that my bird loves to sing along to this one. It’s Tuesday.. this week is much better than last. Thanks for the support and encouragement I’ve received via email based on my last post (and for the virtual flowers, Stevie – that was really sweet!)… and Jeannette – I JUST got your voicemail today (I know, I know…) – – planning on returning that call later tonight when things are slow and quiet.
My lovely daughter, Melissa, is a sweet girl. She is bright, funny, charming and very, very social. She rarely gives us much trouble – – but, she’s also 16. The age of 16 doesn’t come and go without a handful of little disruptions in life – – it’s like a turning point when, suddenly, the very sweet girl who used to want to spend all her time in her Mom’s lap all of a sudden doesn’t want to be SEEN with that same Mom in public. Oh the horror! Actually, Melissa isn’t so much like that. While she doesn’t sit […]
School’s Out… and parents everywhere are already counting down the days until the start of the new school year in September! I work from home, and normally the kids are up and out of the house by 6:30 AM. Now? They are home. They usually head out around noon and hang out with their friends. I had an interesting conversation with my teenaged son today. I’ll let you imagine what my response was when he wandered into my office at 12:30 PM this afternoon, looking all sleepy and grumpy, and asked me this question: Is it your habit to wake […]
“Face Behind the Blogger” collection was started by Dave Airey because blogging is truly international, and the chances of meeting the people behind your favorite blogs are slim, a face to the name of someone you haven’t met helps recognition and adds a more personal feel to your conversations. Stevie (revenge) tagged me with it about a week ago – I figured it was time to pony up the goods over here. It took me a while to find some older pictures of myself – – ones that were not scanned, I simply laid out on the table and took […]
In my previous post, I told the story of how I became a new bird owner. I finally got a nice picture of her this morning – here she is.. ain’t she purty?
I know what you’re thinking. With a title like that – I’d be thinking the same thing, so don’t feel bad. I am not posting pictures of boobies in an attempt to drive more traffic to my post – – although, what do you want to bet it would work like a charm? Let me explain… I was very surprised by a Mother’s Day gift I received yesterday. Surprised because I received it . . but mostly, surprised because I actually wanted/liked it! I’ll start off by saying that I am not a bird person. I never have been. When […]
A side effect of writing the book over the past several months is the weight gain that comes with lack of exercise and sitting in front of the computer every day, doing nothing but drinking coffee and writing like a maniac. So, now that the writing is over – it’s time for me to get back on track and stop ignoring my expanding ass. Just because it’s behind me and I don’t see it all the time, doesn’t mean I should forget about it, right? So, yea – Melissa (my daughter) and I decided that we would do a 2 […]
I’m rounding the bend.. hurtling towards my second deadline, which is due March 1. It will be a solid few days of writing between now and then until I have to start working on my third deadline (March 31.) Someone here told me that this book thing was a GOOD idea — who was it?? *leering* I blame the callouses on my fingertips on you – I hope you feel guilty! Overall, its been a good week. My friend Leanne has had a BANNER week – and I know mine does not compare… but still a good one in the […]
My teenaged daughter has turned into a real smarty pants. I wonder where she gets that from? We have the strangest conversations. I took her grocery shopping with me this evening. While there – our age difference was evident. I picked up Orange Roughy, asparagus, artichokes, among other healthy foods – complete with sugar-free jello to try and tame my overly-sweet sweet tooth. She picked up chips, pizzas, corn dogs (ugh!), ice cream bars and something called a “Rock Star” energy drink. Apparently she has an opinion on everything. I bought olive oil because I ran out and I cook […]
