Princess Cays Island

Can’t you just picture me there?

I can.

That’s where I’ll be headed on September 3rd. Chris and I just booked an 8-day cruise! We leave Ft. Lauderdale on the 3rd and head to St. Thomas, St. Maartens and Princess Cays Island. Now, if that doesn’t perk up my winter doldrums, I don’t know what will!

We’re going with two other couples. Dan and Tammy – Chris’s business partner and his wife… and Tim and Libby – – one of their clients and her husband.

We had talked about taking a ski trip to Brekenridge this year, but someone piped up and said they wanted to take a Carribean cruise, instead. I struggled with it for a while – – you all know how much I love to ski.

But! I’ve never tried scuba diving before – or snorkeling. Chris and I are signing up for scuba lessons this spring to prepare – – so I’ll be able to bring back some awesome underwater photos!

Having never been on a cruise before – I’m hoping I don’t get seasick!

In April – Chris and I, and the kids, are headed to New York to visit his mother for her birthday. We are going to deliver this to her – – the awesome, gorgeous painting done by Leanne Wildermuth – Artist Extraordinare!. She did just a fabulous job painting Thor and Oz – – just beautiful! The kids have never been to Manhattan – so we’ll spend some time doing the usual sightseeing things. Chris, who grew up there, can give a tour of the city that you’ll not get from any brochure! 😉

Then, in May – Chris and I are headed to San Diego for a week. He has a client out there that he needs to spent some on-site time with . . and I figured I’d tag along. We’ll visit our favorite restraunts there . . and maybe even do the zoo again. We were there two years ago and did the whole zoo thing . . . so maybe we’ll skip it.

All this flying – – I’ll need a jug for the martini’s I’ll need just to get through it!

  1. I was going to say… thats my back yard!!! Cool on the cruise, I love cruising it is so relaxing. The roll on a big boat is not all that bad unless the weather is real bad and you get used to it real quick anyhow, funny thing is that you get used to compensating for it that you kinda walk funny for a while once you’ve got off. Enjoy all your trips, (lucky dawg), I might get away for a week this year, I haven’t been away on vacation for 6 years, except for one trip to New Mexico for Christmas.

  2. Be prepared to get heavily involved in diving. Once you start, you can’t stop. It’s like an addiction to some people. It sounds like a blast!

  3. Good for you! We’ve talked lightly about doing a cruise sometime, but I’ve always nixed it since I just don’t play well with others and there’s an awful lot of others on that boat! Of course, with Maui coming up in the fall we don’t really have to worry about the cruise anytime soon.

As for SCUBA, from what I hear you can see just as much snorkeling in a lot of those places. I’m going to try to get in a SCUBA dive when we go to Maui, but I’ve heard from a lot of people that you don’t see that much more with SCUBA than snorkeling (plus you can buy snorkeling equipment darn cheap and it doesn’t take that much room in the bags).

  4. San Diego?!? Who do we know there?

    ….

    Oh yeah, me!

It’d be fun to do coffee or drinks or something. I heard we have a “dessert bar” in town now that’s supposed to be big fun… if you like desserts and stuff.
