Another WordPress For Dummies Giveaway

lsw-x

As the title of this post suggests, there is another chance for you to win your own copy of WordPress For Dummies, autographed by yours truly. This one is easy – Darren over at ProBlogger is sponsoring a WordPress For Dummies Giveaway and it’s SO easy.. all you have to do is leave a comment on his blog. That’s it! He’s giving one copy away to one commenter every day this week. The more comments you leave – the greater your chances of winning as each comment is considered an ‘entry’. I’ve been reading Darren since almost the very beginning and his entire site is a really super resource for blogging: resources, monetizing, how-to and overall great information about everything blog. If you have not subscribed to his RSS feed by now – now would be a great time to do it. ProBlogger.net is a MUST read for any blogger.

I have to say, I’m really quite tickled with how well my book, WordPress For Dummies, has been moving off the shelves and out of the warehouses at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and other online retailers. It has been #1 in the Blogging & Books category on Amazon for the last couple weeks – and still going strong!
WordPress For Dummies #1 in Blogs and Blogging, Amazon.com
I just want to take this opportunity to thank those who have purchased the book and sent in emails on how much they’ve enjoyed it and the ways in which it has helped them along their way with WordPress. I also would like to thank those of you who have taken the time to write a review on Amazon.com – every little bit helps spread the word about this helpful WordPress resource, so if you have a moment and are inspired to write a review at Amazon.com, I would be a grateful author!

Nika, WordPress For Dummies, Winner, PhilippinesIn my own giveaway – I sent several copies to bloggers in the Philippines. I shipped those copies out on 11/15 and started getting a little concerned that the copies had not arrived yet. Though, I just heard today that at least one of those copies arrived safe and sound to Nika’s home after *almost* a month – – I was very relieved to hear it! Hoping this means that the rest of the Philippine-bound copies will start making their way towards their final destination very soon, as well!

I also shipped out Lorna Doone Brewer’s autographed copy that she won in Char’s giveaway on Casual Keystrokes right before Thanksgiving. Is it just me, or does Lorna Doone Brewer’s name make you hungry for shortbread cookies, too? heh.

  1. Lisa,

I’m so excited to get the book; I can’t wait to read it! Thank you so much.

As for the cookies, a couple of years ago I decided to do a bunch of baking at Christmastime, and I thought I’d try shortbread. It turns out that I make the *best* shortbread around. I guess it was inevitable with a name like mine!

  2. Lorna – that fact that your shortbread cookies are the best out there is really no surprise… it’s your legacy! haha 🙂 Please do let me know when the book arrives… it was Fed Ex’d ground. I’m interested in hearing our thoughts on the book, as well.. if you have a moment to share once you’re done. Happy holidays!

  3. :”> Hahah, OMG my face is in Lisa’s blog. xD Actually I’ve been bugging my mom to go with me to the post office early this week to see what happened to it since I know you sent it early last month. Haha, I was going to ring them up today, only the postman got here before I did. :d

  4. Nika – I’m glad to know you didn’t have to bug the postman and that he finally showed up on your doorstep. LOVE the picture – thanks so much for sending it 🙂

  9. Lisa,

My book arrived today. Thanks so much, and I appreciate the inscription, too. My hope is to curl up with it this weekend, if I can keep myself from peeking before then!

  10. Thanks for stopping by, David. All 5 of you have provided me with your shipping information – which is great news because I’ll be able to go out tomorrow morning and ship all of them out – – maybe they’ll get there before christmas?? 🙂 Congrats!

  11. I posted a review of the book on my site. Also submitted one to Amazon, but those can take a while to appear.

:(( Well, I tried to win one from Darren’s blog, but it didn’t work out. Lots of people entered, few could win.

Oh well. So I went to Amazon and bought it myself! That will show them!Very good book. I wish I had it when I first started setting up blogs. Good work. Thanks!

  12. Michael – thanks much for such a positive review. I’m happy to hear that while you’re an experienced WP user, you found value in reading the book. Thanks for the Amazon review, as well!

    Happy holidays!

  13. Well, I didn’t win the book, so I figured I’d buy it the first chance I got. Friday, we were doing some last minute Christmas shopping and I decided to browse the computer books in a Waldenbooks in the mall that we were in. Now, Waldenbooks has a very tiny computer book section compared to Barnes and Noble or Borders (which Waldenbooks is now a part of, I guess) so I was very surprised to see 1 single copy of your book. I snapped it up, of course.

Get this, though: we live in Arkansas, but I bought the book in Madison, Wisconsin. We were in that area visiting our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids, who moved there a year ago when he got out of the Air Force and had a great job offer from a Wisconsin company. I met my wife in Milwaukee in 1972 when she was in the USO and I was in the Navy, but since all of her family had moved away, most of them to Arkansas, we’ve not traveled to Wisconsin. In fact, this trip was our second this year and only the third in the 35 years we’ve been married. We’ll be going there more often now, I’m sure.

My wife was from the Mishicot area, which is north of Manitowoc and Two Rivers.

I’m a relatively long-time WordPress user, but have already learned a few new things from your book. I’ve subscribed to your feed and look forward to learning more.

  14. I hope I can grab your book too, but I don’t have money to buy it.. 🙁 guess I have to save more to buy it. I’m a newbie in blogging and I really want to know more about WordPress.
