Sex n' Politics

So I get this email this evening. Someone so moved by my post called “Can You Hear Me Now?” (See posts Aug. 31). This person was confused and wanted some clarification. Why? I’m not sure – - my little life has no impact on this faceless person – - but they were moved enough to write to me, so I’ll be kind enough to respond to it.

His email goes like this:

Lisa -

You’re a conservative Republican? And yet, at the same time, you profess to an interest in S&M and have made references to ‘girlie’ love and bisexuality. How can that be? That particular sexuality and politics don’t mix, in my mind. I thought conservatives were…well…conservative? Don’t you think that the conservative stance on gay marriage runs in direct conflict with your views on sexuality? Please clarify?

So my sex and my politics don’t mix? Exactly, Sir, – they don’t mix…cuz I choose not to mix them. You see, I don’t vote with one hand and diddle with the other, simultaneously. They are interests that I have in life – - along with many, many other interests that I’m sure you think would contradict one another.

Hey – I’m a singer and I play piano, too. Analyze that, sweetheart :)

I think conservatives are probably a kinky lot of people – - but, you see, we don’t feel the need to march in parades and develop associations to display our kinks to the mass public. I, personally, don’t wear a badge (or a hanky, as it were) to proclaim to the world that I’m kinky and that I like kissing girls. That’s my personal business and my government has no part of it. I’m also, mainly, heterosexual and am not looking to benefit from a gay marriage any time soon. I concern myself with gay marriage about as much as I concern myself with PETA…it doesn’t concern me. As a conservative, do I think gay marriages threaten the importance of familial values in this country? Hell, I think Bill Clinton took care of that back in the 90′s.

I will personally dispel the theory that conservatives only have sex with the lights out, in the missionary position. It’s just not true. You’d be surprised the kind of people who keep a paddle in their nightstand *grin* Now, if you’ll pardon me — I have some diddling to do while I watch FoxNews….the man is outta town on business, ya know – - so for tonight, it’s me and Neil Cavuto on my TV.

I’m so twisted, eh? Hope that all clarified it a bit more for ya.

  1. Thank you for writing that Lisa. I feel the same way and am frequently telling people that the way I have sex or what kind of relationship I have has nothing to do with my political beliefs and it sure as heck doesn’t make me a liberal =)

  2. Hey there Chelle!

That makes two of us conservative types out there who go beyond ‘lights out, missionary style’.

I feel a parade brewing LOL

  3. Oh a parade! Conservative-pansexual-alternative lifestyle parade! I know of one blog in particular that that parade should march right infront of heh.

  4. Lisa, I sure do appreciate you for your blogs about sex. I too completely agree with you. Why is it, do you wonder that people think that conservatives don’t do anything that is fun? What I think of as conservative mainly revolves around the government protecting the nation, keeping the nation strong, and staying out of my and yours business as much as is humanly possible. What I think of as liberal is constantly wobbling on every issue and basically presenting our nation as a pack of wussies, instead of the true nature of America which is even though we are of every race, creed, and nationality(formerly) do not mess with us because as polite as we are we will kick ass.

  5. Am I too late to miss the parade? I think I’m one of the few conservative porn reviewers out there.

  6. I knew it! You’re really Ron Jeremey in disguise aren’t you?

  7. I’m not nearly that hairy and there’s only a couple restaurants that start celebrating when they see me coming.
