I ran into an old friend today

Comments Off

Well, I didn’t really run into her – I found her through an internet search on Google. I wasn’t searching for her, but I found her because she is a freelance editor/writer on the topic that I was searching for.
It was interesting because I found her articles and started reading them. They were really good and very well written. I felt drawn to the author through her writing and the sharing of her own…

Quick Update

Comments Off

Just a quickie today . . I’m pressed (shoved? smashed?) against some hard deadlines today. Coffee.. coffee and MORE coffee please!
Last week, I mentioned a radio interview that I did on SRD Radio with my good friend, Dave Chadwick. Dave has the episode up and live today so you can go and listen and gawk at what a dork I sound like in audio. Be nice, though – I was nervous!
Here is a…

Sandbox Designs Competition

Comments Off

Scott Allan Wallick and Andy Skelton recently announced a competition for creating style sheets for the Sandbox theme for WordPress – The Sandbox Designs Competition
For those of you not familiar with The Sandbox – it is a WordPress theme, only naked – leaving you, the creative designing geniuses that you are, to dress it up. Though it is so much MORE than just simply naked – – its pure and gorgeous, in all its…

Yet Another Photo Blog (YAPB) – WordPress Plugin

Comments Off

All work & no play. . makes me kinda grumyish, ya know? So, I took a bit of a break yesterday and gave a complete overhaul to my photoblog, SnappingPhotos.com. It was fun, quick and easy – I wanted the design to be VERY light and simple. I am pretty sure I succeeded with that –you don’t get much more light and simple than this:

While you are at it – check out a few…

SixApart Creates Buzz

Comments Off

It was all over the place yesterday, in case you missed it – here’s a bit of a blog round up on the release of MT 4 Beta – along with the announcement that they will release it as Open Source under a GPL license later this year – and the emergence of the MTOS (Movable Type Open Source) Community:

Paul Enderson wrote Movable Type Goes Open Source – “Ironically enough, up until the release…

Stupid Coding Bloopers

5

Sometimes when I’m coding and working on designs, my brain goes on auto-pilot and I make some of the weirdest errors in my code, without even knowing it – causing me to load the design I’m working on and then say…”WTF??” when it doesn’t work the way I think it should. I go back and look at my code and I see some pretty silly stuff that tells me I need to pay more attention…

Color Inspiration

Comments Off

I love color – and love any application and resource that helps me in the area of color. Being colorblind has it’s challenges, you know. I found a great resource called ColourLovers and have become addicted to creating color palettes over there. Proof?…

Those are four palettes that I created yesterday. As I sit and try and determine what my obsession and addiction about color means – – is there a deeper reason…I created a…

Transfer First … Cancel Second

Comments Off

Just a little tip. . .
If you host your website with a hosting provider and you want to transfer to a new hosting provider – please do the following, in order:

Back up your data and transfer from your current host to your new host
Cancel your hosting account with your current host.

If you do not do it in that order – you run the risk of losing your data. If you cancel…

Backlogged..just a little bit

Comments Off

It’s amazing what one full week of being down with a serious cold/flu can do to a persons productivity – oy! It’s lots of coffee and late, late nights for me for the next several days just to catch up to where I need to be.
I’m currently working on a WordPress MU site design and setup for a client of mine. I’m pretty excited about it because this is really the first WordPress MU…

Survived!

Comments Off

Well, I survived possibly the worst cold/flu in history. At least in MY history. It’s still not completely over, but at least I’m functioning. I spent the entire holiday weekend in bed alternating Nyquil with Advil and probably went through 3 packages of completely useless cough drops in the process. I’ve completely lost my voice, much to the pleasure of the rest of my family. I’ve had to put off several client calls and a…
