Families and Holidays

Hope everyone had a great turkey day! Here’s the best Thanksgiving post I found on blogs – – for whatever reason, it had me busting a gut. Of course, could be because it’s hubby’s blog and all.. I’m biased that way. Moo! (speaking of hubby and his blog.. this is off topic – but for […]

Coffee Break at 9PM

Let’s see.. my day consisted of: Setting up one completed custom WordPress installation and design for a client whose host has some kinda funky PHP settings that took about 3 hours to finally resolve and get the WordPress installation working correctly. (Psst . . for LunarPages folks, if you suffer from the ‘500 Internal Server’ […]

Some things just endure

Had to take Kid #1 to work tonight. Kid #2, my daughter, came along for the ride because I mentioned I was stopping at Pier 1 to browse.. she loves that store as much as I do. So, we drop him off at work… make a quick stop at Starbucks, which is totally mandantory, ya […]

Dyson Animal

I seriously never thought I’d be so happy to have a new vaccum cleaner. Man, I’m either really obsessed with carpets.. or I’m just getting old and things like vaccum cleaners thrill me in a place where a new car stero used to. Heh. Disclaimer: this is NOT a paid product review at all. We […]

Day Spa

There is this Day Spa right down the road from our house. I drive past it all the time – but have never given it a second thought, until a few weeks ago. I’ve been having this horrid neck and shoulder pain that has gotten so bad it’s affecting my sleep.. my moods.. yada yada. […]

Paging Dr. Google

Physicians are doing exactly what their patients have been doing for years – Googling your illness. I don’t know how many times I’ve Googled my own symtpoms and have diagnosed myself with some rare form of fingernail cancer that only happens in third world tropics, ya know what I’m saying? I’ll never forget the day […]

Shame on us

We like to keep aquariums in our home. We have a lovely 70 gallon one in our kitchen. To me, it’s relaxing to sit down with my coffee and just watch the fish in the aquarium. We keep assorted types: Angels Mollies Eels Tetras We like to keep crabs, too – – those are pretty […]

On the road without a cell phone

I was talking with Chelle this morning. She was sharing her new cell phone number with me. We chatted a bit about life before cell phones – – having to use those things called Pay Phones when we were away from home. Remember pay phones? Heh. It reminded me of a job I had once. […]

Christmas in New York

For the past 2 years, we’ve spent Thanksgiving in New York with Chris’ family. This year, we’re spending Thanksgiving here with my family – and headed to New York for Christmas. Maybe we’ll even hang around for New Years in Times Square? That might be fun! We’re actually doing the Christmas in New York for […]

Life Lessons – Working for a living

Well, Kid Number One finally did it. He’s employed! He got his first job last week and his first day was Saturday. It was really kind of strange, actually. Chris drove him to his place of employment – I rode along. After we dropped him off I looked at Chris and said “Hey – we […]

I almost ran over an angel

Sometimes there are situations in life that you want to avoid… but not really. What you really want is to be able to move beyond and past the way that situation makes you feel, deep inside. You really want to experience the thing for what is today.. not for what it was yesterday. But.. it […]

Spam on my doorstep

We’ve lived in this house for 3.5 years and have YET to see a door-to-door salesman. Heck, we don’t even get kids here for Trick-Or-Treat – – we’re too far off the beaten path for the kids to hike all the way out here for a piece of candy. No salesmen, No kids. Never even […]

XOXO – Love, Microsoft

Firefox 2.0 was released this week featuring a refined user experience and a great many new developer features. The fine (and envious) folks from Redmond, WA (aka – Microsoft) sent the Mozilla developers a cake, congratulating them on the release of 2.0. Maybe the Mozilla folks will be so flattered by the present of a […]

It looks like it’s going to be one of those days. I’m sorry to have to do this to you – but I think my head will explode if I don’t share this with you today. Right here. Right now. My apologies, in advance.

Clearing Out The Garage

commodore 1541 disk driveWe spent some time this weekends clearing out some junk out of our garage. It was time – – we’ve accumulated tons of stuff… most of it useless. Chris and I are both serious pack rats – for whatever reason, we both have a difficult time letting go of the trinkets that make up our own personal history – a/k/a our baggage.

IE7 Screenshot – OH! The irony of it all

So, the new and improved Microsoft product that we’ve all be waiting for (well, maybe YOU’VE been waiting for) was released today. Does the crow go wild? Hardly.

I did a post about it over here. If you haven’t turned off your automatic updates – don’t be surprised to wake up in the morning to find that you now have a completely different browser than what you were used to (that is directed towards IE users)….

Wikipedia and Homework Plagiarism

I feel bad. Bad mother… bad, bad mother.

My daughter is working on a history project called “The Chronical Project”. My son had to do it last year – see the post I did about his project here. To recap – the project is a chronicle of the years of her lifetime – so 1991 – 2006. During those years, she has to pick 12 historical events that happened in his lifetime, and 12 personal events…

Snow, Beautiful Snow!

I’m THRILLED to report that it is that time of year again – – and as an extra added treat, it has come much earlier than usual. Keeping my fingers crossed that it actually sticks this year! Last years snowfall was pathetic and our family skiing season passes virtually went to waste last year. My […]

Mac Killed My Inner Child

I do love my Mac. I operate both.. a PC and a Mac. I’m not a Mac-convert, though… something about old habits die hard.. or teaching an old dog new tricks… blah blah. Regardless of what anyone says – I have had my Mac (OSX) crash on me. It’s possible – but not nearly the […]

Sad Poker Face

I’m not really betting woman, normally – but I do like a good game of poker or blackjack. I’m pretty decent at both games and usually don’t regret any game I’ve ever sat in on. My gambling moments were usually kept for those visits to Vegas, or Atlantic City – – or even the Indian […]

Yummy Goodness

Did you know…. if you dip your finger in a jar of peanut butter and pull out a huge glob of it on your fingertip… Then… Dip that same peanut butter covered finger into a bag of chocolate chips…. The eat it all off your finger all at once… You have yourself a homemade peanut […]

As The Apple Falls

Recently, I’ve been getting some interesting IM’s from my daughter… “Mom, how do I link an image so that someone can click on it and go to a different page?” “Mom, can I get your upgraded version of Animation Shop?” And so on. Tonight, she came downstairs and asked me if I was working. I […]

Raising Children

It’s strange, you know – kids. Parenting is not one of those types of jobs where you can just wake up in the morning and say “You know what? I quit!” Well, there are some parents (and I use that term loosely, in this reference) who have done just that sort of thing. But – […]

Serious Serial Series Syndrome

Go ahead – say THAT title 10 times fast – – then go ahead and untie your tongue while you’re at it! Serious Serial Series Syndrome™ – I have it. I never, ever have time to get into a television series while it’s still running. Really – how do people keep up with it? To […]
